CNN’s The Lead spent almost six minutes on Tuesday discussing the Supreme Court’s ruling on President Trump’s travel ban with Minnesota Democratic Congressman Keith Ellison, but host Jake Tapper turned the tables on Ellison by grilling him for the remaining five minutes on his ties to anti-gay, anti-Semitic, and sexist Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. 

AMC’s Preacher is back, and it looks like it’s proceeding right on schedule. Already in the season three premiere, we’re kicking things off with the return of another outrageous and offensive image of God. At this rate, we’ll probably be scraping the bottom of the barrel by the Fourth of July.

Actor Chris Pratt accepted the 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards show’s Generation Award and delivered a powerful and moving speech to the young audience that was sorely needed. Taped on June 16, the show was broadcast June 18 and Pratt’s speech alone was worth slogging through the rest of the show.

Stephen Colbert not surprisingly has attempted to use his Catholic faith to make a political point, and unbeknownst to him, he failed at it. He was referring to the incidents at the border involving illegal immigrants and their children. Colbert called attention to how AG Jeff Sessions defended the government’s actions at the border with a quote from Romans.

Democrats love protecting children and invoking a higher power, but only when it benefits them politically. On All In with Chris Hayes Thursday, former U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer cited religion, sin, and children to blast the Trump administration’s immigration policy. 

Should the Trump administration interact with religious leaders? It depends. New York Times' Catie Edmondson went hard against Trump’s supposed anti-Muslim (as opposed to anti-Islamic terrorism) animus in “As Trump Woos Middle Eastern Leaders, Muslim Americans Feel Scorned.” Yet the Times also criticized the Trump administration for meeting with Christians. 

On Thursday's Deadline: White House on MSNBC, during a discussion of the White House's efforts to enforce immigration laws, the panel descended into hyperbole as host Nicolle Wallace actually likened the government to the MS-13 gang as she charged that the Trump administration is "terrorizing children" by separating them from their parents, as required by law.

As Ohio Republican Congressman Jim Jordan appeared as a guest on Tuesday's MSNBC Live, fill-in host Kasie Hunt repeatedly pressed her GOP guest on whether his conservative agenda on immigration reform was consistent with "christianity" -- a religion-based angle one would not hear a Democrat being pressed on by journalists on issues like, say, abortion.

On Tuesday, NBC’s Today show was the only network morning show to interview Colorado baker Jack Phillips, the Christian business owner at the center of Monday’s Supreme Court ruling in favor of his refusal to create a wedding cake for a gay couple, in violation of his religious convictions. While the broadcast deserves credit for giving Phillips and his attorney a platform to discuss the case,…

The highest court in the land sided with Phillips because the Colorado Civil Rights Commission subjected him to what could be argued was anti-religious bigotry. But despite the historic nature of the ruling, broadcast network news outlets ABC and NBC were more relieved that the ruling had a “limited” scope and seemingly only applied to this one case.
