As Hurricane Harvey unleashed its terror on Texas, reporters braved the rain and wind to keep citizens informed of the danger. But that’s not all they did. Reporters from ABC, CBS and CNN also helped save lives – and one Weather Channel reporter even rescued an American flag.

Rappers are usually pretty political. But at the same time, they don’t always drag their audience into their political vortex with them. On August 26, rapper Eminem led his concert audience in Reading, England, in a rousing “Fuck Trump” chant. In an attempt to gain publicity, most likely, he randomly burst into a tirade on stage.  

There is some good in this world yet. In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, some celebrities offered their prayers, anonymous donations, and links to fundraisers. However, others have used their fame and wealth to raise awareness for the victims of the storm. Roughly $1,888,977 has been donated to independent fundraisers created by actors, singers, and football players.  

TBS’s People of Earth, a comedy that centers around a support group of people who have been abducted by aliens, hilariously took a shot at feminist, interpretative dance art on the Monday, August 28 episode, “Aftermath.”

The August 27 episode of Insecure on HBO didn't disappoint, if you're into social justice fashion choices and graphic depictions of bodily fluids. If you aren't looking for that to be part of your Sunday night viewing, the episode "Hella Blows" was hella disappointing. 

Another awards show means another chance for MTV to pretend to be relevant. Kudos to trying to have one about music for a change, but that never seems to make the tone-deaf liberal argument disappear. Much like its earlier movie awards show, the VMAs proceeds to make room in its three-hour lineup for more parroting and edge-pushing.

Any difference between the news and opinion sections of The Washington Post and the sports pages is barely discernible in the current age of racial hysteria. Post sports writers like Sally Jenkins demonstrate this by taking up the social justice crusade for rebel without a team Colin Kaepernick.

The August 24 episode of NBC’s The Night Shift laid out a heavy hand of virtue-shaming on the issue of illegal immigration by painting ICE agents as cold-hearted men only concerned about meeting quotas. Titled “Land of the Free,” the episode pitted the self-righteous doctors against mean-spirited federal employees doing their job.

The Kaepernick beat has taken some unusual twists and turns in the past 24 hours. There was plenty of the usual support from left-stream media and Kaepernick apologists, an accusation against Michael Vick of criticizing Kaepernick in order to land a job with Fox Sports and some opposition to the polarizing football free agent.
