Trouble in paradise? We all know lefty Hollywood types hate Trump, and Trump’s supporters. And conservatives. And religious people. And rural America -- okay, so they hate a lot of folks. But one group could always count on Tinsel Town’s love and money: Democrats. Bill, Hillary, Barack -- even Al Gore -- were rock stars among the power-worshipping lefties.
The liberal Twitterverse has been having another meltdown over the U.S. embassy moving to Jerusalem. Now many of them are continuing their narrative of Trump as head of a mob family, whose political ties to Israel, another totalitarian regime, are putting the poor Palestinian people at risk.
Hollywood likes to think it adds something important to the political environment. Instead, it just seems to confuse people.
Halloween is when kids dress up in costume and parents share cute pictures of their kids on social media. Leave it to bitter liberal Hollywood to ruin one child’s picture. Donald Trump Jr. tweeted a photo of his daughter, Chloe, with the caption, “I’m going to take half of Chloe’s candy tonight and give it to some kid who sat at home. It’s never to early to teach her about socialism.” Socialist Hollywood was quick to jump on this statement, retweeting the child’s picture and the caption with their own views. Amber Tamblyn, the actress who declared war on conservatives, called the picture and the caption “whiteness,” saying that “it’s beyond commentary on socialism. It’s a viewpoint only extreme privilege can afford.”
Well, Hollywood celebrities and other elite liberals reacted about like you’d expect to the Trump administration’s decision to rescind Obama’s unconstitutional Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy. The overwhelming accusations of racism and hatred levied by Hollywood’s loudest (and most privileged) in the past two or three days have glossed over the context of the DACA policy, the decision to overturn it, and the potential consequences (which are unknown at this point).
Thanks to the president, several stressed Hollywood stars are suffering from disordered eating. “Donald Trump is making me gain weight,” entertainment icon Barbra Streisand tweeted on March 5. “I start the day with liquids, but after the morning news, I eat pancakes smothered in maple syrup!”
Do rape “jokes” ever count as comedy? Apparently they do when Trump is involved. Liberal Hollywood writer and producer of films like Bridesmaids and Anchorman Judd Apatow actually compared living with Trump as President to getting raped, during a stand up comedy show in Los Angeles Saturday. Apatow, like many in Hollywood, seems to be unusually upset with the election calling him a “madman” and a “sociopath” in an previous unhinged rant.
In what was a bit of a shock for what’s considered a sober PBS interview program, comedian and film director Judd Apatow substitute-hosted the Charlie Rose show on Monday night. And the director of movies like SuperBad and Knocked Up wasted little time in insulting Donald Trump as he declared: “I feel like he runs the country like he ran The Apprentice....And it’s a little scary isn’t it?”
If you’ve already dropped the ball on your resolution to lose weight this year, you can blame Donald Trump. (At least, according to Girls producer and Lena Dunham pal Judd Apatow.)
How can Judd Apatow, once ranked the smartest guy in Hollywood be so . . . ? On today's With All Due Respect, big comedy macher [credits include Lena Dunham's Girls] Apatow said it was "ridiculous that anyone thinks that rich people care about other people. When the Koch brothers give a billion dollars, it is not out of a great concern for the masses."
To his credit, Mark Halperin twice pressed Apatow as to whether his notion that the rich don't care about others also applies to rich Hollywood liberals. Apatow eventually asserted that there's a difference: "Hollywood liberals would be willing to change the entire system if all would get the money out of it, and I don't think conservatives would do it." Hmm. Who was the guy who, realizing he could get untold millions from Hollywood among other places, broke his pledge to limit himself to public financing? That would be Barack Obama.
Just how liberal is fake conservative Stephen Colbert? Politico’s Hadas Gold reports the Democrats are raising money off his retirement from Comedy Central.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is asking people to sign a 'Thank you' card. "After nine great years, the Colbert Report is going off the air," the email reads. "Thank you Stephen Colbert for an amazing ride!"
Actor Seth Rogen and director/producer Judd Apatow are hitting back at a Washington Post film critic for strongly suggesting that the sort of movies churned out by the duo are partly to blame for Elliot Rodger's deadly killing spree on Friday. For his part, Apatow effectively blasted Ann Hornaday for, well, trolling.
