Just in time for Halloween, the nation ́s Spanish-speaking news media seemingly agreed to put a scary spin on the latest developments in the DACA saga. The words “fear” and “scared” are liberally sprinkled throughout DACA coverage, in order to frighten so-called “Dreamers” into action regarding their status.

Telemundo aired its much-ballyhooed documentary by Spanish journalist Jordi Évola, titled “Pardon the Interruption, Mr. Trump”, which is supposed to break new ground for Telemundo. Unfortunately, Telemundo breaks nothing new and now finds itself occupying well-trodden ground. 

Telemundo continues to embarrass itself with its over-the-top climate advocacy, and with its fawning coverage of activist Greta Thunberg’s visit to the United Nations earlier this week. Telemundo continues its aggressive push for gun control, this time by putting out a story that suggests the National Rifle Association is under duress because of calls for increased gun control as a result of horrific shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio.

Telemundo´s coverage of the El Paso massacre included a softball interview to presidential candidate, Joe Biden, that began, of course, with a kiss, was framed in the harshest anti-Trump light possible, and ended with an opportunity for Biden to pander to Hispanics.
