Just in time for Halloween, the nation ́s Spanish-speaking news media seemingly agreed to put a scary spin on the latest developments in the DACA saga. The words “fear” and “scared” are liberally sprinkled throughout DACA coverage, in order to frighten so-called “Dreamers” into action regarding their status.

Telemundo aired its much-ballyhooed documentary by Spanish journalist Jordi Évola, titled “Pardon the Interruption, Mr. Trump”, which is supposed to break new ground for Telemundo. Unfortunately, Telemundo breaks nothing new and now finds itself occupying well-trodden ground. 

Telemundo continues to embarrass itself with its over-the-top climate advocacy, and with its fawning coverage of activist Greta Thunberg’s visit to the United Nations earlier this week. NBC and its affiliate networks have amped their climate alarmist coverage in the run-up to the United Nations Climate Action Summit to be held in New York later this month. Not to be outdone, Telemundo has weighed in. Not only does Telemundo correspondent Vannesa Hauc close her report with a bit of fear-mongering, but watch as anchor Felicidad Aveleyra bookends the report with a call to action:

Yes, it´s true. People over 55 years of age are prospering across the nation. But so are Latinos - and as one Hispanic investment ace tells us, they are not the only ones, much to the chagrin of the liberal Spanish-speaking media that continue to make a case for an ailing economy about to crash and for Donald Trump to be deep-sixed.

Telemundo continues its aggressive push for gun control, this time by putting out a story that suggests the National Rifle Association is under duress because of calls for increased gun control as a result of horrific shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio.

A recent report by Telemundo anchor José Díaz-Balart seemed like a comedy skit given the subject: “the media’s responsibility in the use of language”. Even the opening sentence of the report gave away his preference for incendiary language, as he explicitly used the word “racist” three words into the feature. Now that Mueller and the dossier are ancient (buried) news, the liberal Spanish-speaking media will jump at any chance (asides from its non-stop illegal immigration litany) to declare doomsday for President Trump and his Administration. Telemundo´s coverage of the El Paso massacre included a softball interview to presidential candidate, Joe Biden, that began, of course, with a kiss, was framed in the harshest anti-Trump light possible, and ended with an opportunity for Biden to pander to Hispanics.

Compared to MRC Latino’s original study five years ago, the two main Spanish-language evening news broadcasts in the U.S. have become even more heavily skewed to the left. Out of 812 stories on U.S. politics and policy, more than 70 percent were slanted in a liberal direction, compared with 240 stories (29.6%) that were balanced or neutral and only two (0.2%) which were favorable to conservatives…

Telemundo just happened to have a camera crew at the ready as Mexican National Guards detained a Guatemalan national at the border with the United States. Convenient coincidence, or an escalation of the network’s advocacy for open borders? Watch as anchor José Díaz-Balart frames the report, which prominently featured a crying mother at the border so as to elicit sympathy from the audience:

Near the end of its evening newscast Telemundo, NBC’s Spanish-language affiliate network, recently had the temerity to treat its viewership to two and a half minutes of good news. Three cheers for a buoyant economy in which Latinos make up 63% of new homeowners in the United States.
