Most national and international media display an astounding degree of selective perception when covering remarks and actions by Pope Francis. The latest example is the overwhelmingly celebratory coverage of the Pope’s decision to revise the Catholic catechism to express across-the-board opposition to the death penalty.

There was a recent outburst of respect for religion on two consecutive front pages of The New York Times, after Pope Francis changed the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The Times desperately desires to get religion out of politics when it comes to companies like Hobby Lobby that refuse on religious grounds to pay for birth control, eagerly embraces Christianity when it comes to leftist issues…

In addition to field trips and picnics, some liberals in the media are considering new ways of building family spirit…like abortion.

The media simply adore Pope Francis, that is when they can selectively report on his comments to push their liberal agenda. Following the formula, Vogue recently posted an article by Jason Horowitz claiming that “Pope Francis is Changing the Church.”

Women’s magazines aren’t just for fashion and makeup anymore. No. They’re also for abortion. On Monday, President Trump announced his pick for new Supreme Court justice: federal judge Brett Kavanaugh. Writers for women’s magazines from Glamour to Teen Vogue immediately produced stories warning about what the nominee could to do to “your abortion rights.”  

One of the left’s biggest weapons is identity politics, and the media will continually ignore facts to keep this weapon functional. This is especially true regarding Christians, whom the media label as bigots and oppressors. They can never be seen as victims and so the media report accordingly.

On Thursday, The New York Times published an op-ed that asked whether the Catholic Church would ever be able to get its progressive act together and shift its stance towards the LGBT community.  

Pope Francis says gay couples cannot be considered a family. The media know he said this but, with few exceptions, they refused to run this story. The blackout, it is easy to prove, was intentional.

Showtime’s I’m Dying Up Here proves it’s not offering any new material by once again bashing Christianity. It’s only fitting, I suppose, since the show is based in the 1970's that its jokes feel that old. This week, the show attempts to give us tasteless and disparaging humor about one of the sacraments of Catholicism.

On the NBC show Late Night with Seth Meyers, the Catholic Church was roasted as a den of pedophiles. NBC probably shouldn't be mocking sexual abuse so casually....considering Matt Lauer's long reign of preying on young-adult female staffers.
