On February 25, the the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act failed to earn the 60 votes needed to pass the U.S. Senate. For many, including the bill’s sponsor, Senator Ben Sasse of Nebraska, there was shock as well as sadness. How could 60 Senators fail to pass a bill protecting already born babies from infanticide, especially when it should have been all 100 Senators doing so?

The United States Senate finally held a vote on the Born-Alive Survivors Protection Act. The vote tally fell along mostly partisan lines and ultimately failed. Inexplicably, none of this was reported on any of the leading national Spanish-language newscasts.

“Trump Court Pick Causes Stir With Abortion View,” in Wednesday’s New York Times contained a hefty dose of extraneous “conservative” labeling: 12 “conservative” labels in non-quoted material in a 1,200-word story. The New York Times ran an op-ed on February 26 with the provocative title “I Didn’t Kill My Baby.” However, the reader quickly learns that, although the contention in the title is correct, there’s no reason for it to be asserted other than to muddy the waters between abortion and an infant dying of natural causes, which are two completely different things morally, ethically, and legally.

The good thing about the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act is that it is very straightforward, there’s little wiggle room for the media’s typical machinations and euphemisms when it comes to abortion. The media has to be honest about what the bill is and what it does, which is why they like to take the focus off it and make the story about President Trump and Republicans.

Late in the afternoon on February 25, extremist Senate Democrats voted in favor of legalized infanticide. In the wake of Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s bizarre remarks in a radio interview extending the “right to choose” to after-birth abortion (or medical neglect), Sen. Ben Sasse authored the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act...and then 44 Democrats voted against it. Network coverage?…

“Whatever you do, don’t call it infanticide.” That’s part of the progressive media’s plan to cover for the Senate Democrats who on Tuesday shot down a GOP bill that would have protected the lives of babies born after surviving an abortion.

Apparently, one congressional effort that can’t succeed is worthy of attention on ABC and CBS, but the other is not. The difference? The two networks yawned at a pro-life effort to protect infants who survive abortions.
