At the top of her show on Thursday, MSNBC anchor Andrea Mitchell was giddy as she declared that Michael Wolff’s salacious and unverified tell-all book about the Trump administration must have the White House “completely rattled.” Even as she admitted that all the details may not be true: “It’s hard to know what is actually fact and what isn’t, a lot is in quotations.”

Close enough. That’s the assessment from MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle in regard to the new book featuring incendiary quotes from ex-White House official Steve Bannon. Ruhle, like other liberal journalists, suddenly is fascinated with Bannon. She enthused on Thursday, “He was one of the most senior people in the White House, a close adviser to the President, and this book takes us inside.” 

While most of the media recoils at being called “fake news” by President Trump, CBS’s late night comedian Stephen Colbert begged the president to let him be called the “most dishonest” and “most corrupt” member of the media, on his show Wednesday night.
