A small movie theater is at the center of media controversy after it announced it would not show Disney’s live action Beauty and the Beast. The Henagar Drive-in Theatre in Henagar, Alabama, is a small business committed to showing family-oriented films. Once the owners realized that Beauty and the Beast would feature Disney’s first gay character, LeFou, they took to Facebook with a notice. 

In 1980, Ronald Reagan—a former actor—won the presidency. Just over 35 years later, Celebrity Apprentice star Donald Trump achieved the same feat. Celebs weren't the only ones getting political through Oscars evening -- journalists and liberal organizations did too. 

When it comes to Hollywood, viewers on both sides of the aisle agree: political speeches aren’t that convincing. Only 25 percent of participants have ever changed their opinions based on information presented in a political awards show speech.   

Hollywood bias extends beyond tweets and activism—it’s in the money too. Using data from the Center for Responsive Politics, MRC Culture found that six Oscar nominees together donated more than $240,000 to Democratic and liberal causes.
