Time Religion Reporter Complains Conservatives Hypocritical on Taxpaye

April 11th, 2011 11:02 AM
On Friday afternoon, Time magazine religion reporter Amy Sullivan briefly blogged her complaint about what she sees as hypocrisy from conservatives who oppose federal monies for Planned Parenthood but support federal support for faith-based initiatives. "Money is Fungible," blared her April 8 Swampland headline. Well, "[o]bviously," she agreed, then carped that:

Time's Mark Halperin: Obama Has Been Brilliant On 2011 Budget

April 8th, 2011 9:27 PM
Although Barack Obama never proposed a 2011 budget, the folks on MSNBC think he's done an absolutely marvelous job in this regard. After "Hardball's" Chris Matthews began a Friday segment about the looming shutdown saying, "[Obama's] the adult in the room and this is sort of a Washington fight among the Washington types," Time magazine's Mark Halperin put the cherry on top adding, "The White…

April 6th, 2011 4:28 PM
Time Magazine senior correspondent Michael Grunwald on Monday lamented the fact that Barack Obama, "a paragon of fiscal responsibility compared to [George W.] Bush," doesn't get accolades for all his successes. Grunwald's piece, entitled, "The Counterfactual President: Obama Averted Disasters, but Getting Credit Is the Hard Part," sarcastically compared President Obama's record on terrorism…

Joe Klein Reserves Spot in Hell for Koran-burning Pastor Who's As 'Mur

April 4th, 2011 6:09 PM
Burning a copy of the Koran is morally equivalent to flying a plane into the World Trade Center and equally eternally damnable. That's essentially the fatwa of Time magazine's Joe Klein in an April 1 blog post at the magazine's Swampland blog. Klein was condemning Florida pastor Terry Jones's "trial" and subsequent burning of a Koran which allegedly have sparked a murderous rampage against…

Time Blogger Condemns CEO for Shooting Elephant That Destroyed African

April 4th, 2011 3:58 PM
The great thing about being a enviro-evangelist blogger in the United States is the moral high ground it gives you from which to condemn people who fall short of your ecological credentials. Take Bryan Walsh, the blogger behind Time magazine's Ecocentric blog. Walsh took GoDaddy.com CEO Bob Parsons for hunting down an elephant in Zimbabwe that was a threat to a village's crops. In an April…

'Morning Joe' Pundits: Obama 'Extremely Deft in a Very Tough Situation

March 28th, 2011 1:50 PM
During Monday's "Morning Joe," Time's Mark Halperin and co-host Mika Brzezinski helpfully provided some spin for the White House to borrow as President Obama finishes his prepared remarks for Monday evening's address to the nation on the events in Libya. President Obama has received sharp criticism for his foreign policy concerning Egypt and Libya, but Halperin threw cold water on that,…

Time Offers Dan Savage Space to Trash Conservatives, Hail Michelle the

March 22nd, 2011 8:06 AM
In this week's issue, Time magazine followed Newsweek in honoring gay sex columnist Dan Savage and offering him space to trash conservatives. The liberal media sets Savage up as an anti-bullying activist, then lets him push conservative faces in the dirt. In December Newsweek printed him saying "F--- John McCain" and asserting Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia was clearly a "c---sucker."  In…

Joe Klein Hails Obama's Followership on Libya Crisis

March 18th, 2011 3:43 PM
Leading the free world is highly overrated and so last century. Just ask Time's Joe Klein, who is giddy that our European allies and the Arab League took a leading role in setting up a no-fly zone over Libya, some 31 days after Muammar al-Qadhafi started opening fire upon ragtag rebels. From a March 18 entry entitled "Gaddafi Duck" at the magazine's Swampland blog:

NYT: Jay Carney, 'Non-Partisan' Reporter Turned Obama WH Press Secreta

March 17th, 2011 1:14 PM
Thursday’s New York Times featured a puffball profile by Jeremy Peters of Jay Carney, the recently installed White House press secretary and former reporter for Time magazine undergoing a trial by fire in the wake of international crises. Carney left Time after the election to become communications director for Vice President Biden before getting his White House promotion. The story headline…

Time's Sullivan Promotes 'Gay-affirming' Preacher Jay Bakker

March 15th, 2011 12:14 PM
Rebellious son of infamous 1980s televangelists returns (sort of) to the faith of his parents, pastors a church, but now takes a decidedly liberal tack on the Christian faith. That's certainly a compelling story for a secular magazine to cover, especially in this Lenten season. But with her March 15-published  interview with Jay Bakker, a self-styled "evangelical punk preacher," Time…

Time Magazine Headline: 'Wisconsin's Governor Wins But Is He Still Dea

March 13th, 2011 3:51 PM
Remember all that fuss two months ago about violent rhetoric and imagery following the tragic Tucson shootings that almost killed Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.)? Apparently the folks at Time magazine have forgotten, for on Saturday, they actually published an article with the following headline:

David Brooks: 'New York Times Readers More Liberal Than the Journalist

March 10th, 2011 5:31 PM
David Brooks on Thursday said New York Times readers are more liberal than the journalists that write there. During his videotaped interview with Time magazine, Brooks also explained how he tries to get this left-leaning crowd to read his articles (video follows with transcript and commentary):

March 10th, 2011 3:22 PM
New York Times columnist David Brooks Thursday took quite a swing at former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich. During a videotaped interview with Time magazine, Brooks said, "I wouldn't let that guy run a 7-Eleven let alone a country" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Time's Thompson Gripes That U.S. Law Requires Navy Ship Exchanges to S

March 2nd, 2011 4:42 PM
Given the sacrifices that U.S. sailors and Marines make to serve our country, it hardly seems right to me to force them to go for months on end aboard surface ships without the right to light up a smoke. But I'm not Mark Thompson. Today the Time magazine staffer dusted off a convenient but recently-ignored liberal media bogeyman, Big Tobacco:
