Fox News: Here Comes the Big Transition

It was inevitable. Forget the way Roger Ailes departed from Fox News. Had there been no kerfuffle over a sexual harassment lawsuit, somewhere down the road lay the inevitable  - as it hangs out there for us all. This would be called “mortality.” And it knocks on the door of every human being, even for the creators of Fox News. Fox News has met The Transition.

DNC Outed

Thanks to WikiLeaks, which has released nearly 20,000 emails hacked from the Democratic National Committee — with promises of more to come — we have proof the party that styles itself as inclusive, diverse and tolerant isn’t. Among the delectable tidbits on which Republicans are feasting are these: one male DNC staffer wrote another male staffer saying “I love you” and added “no homo.” Another…

Rush Unloads on Most Laughable Whopper from Final Night of DNC

Turns out it didn't come from Hill, didn't come from Bill, though not for lack of trying. Drawing from an embarrassment of riches, conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh cited the point during Thursday's final night of the Democrats' convention when millions of viewers gasped in unison, you've got to be kidding. That precious moment -- there are just so many from the Clintons, aren't there? --…

Hillary Donor Mark Zandi: Economy 'Resilient,' Job Market 'Incredible'

Yesterday's news about the economy was the latest in a 7-1/2 year series of mostly regular disappointments. The government reported that nation's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew at an annual rate of just 1.2 percent in the second quarter, half or less of what most alleged "experts" expected. Additionally, the first's quarter's originally reported 1.1 percent growth was revised down to 0.8…

Five Weird Moments Overlooked on Late-Night MSNBC’s Weds. DNC Coverage

Amidst all the overwhelming media coverage gushing over President Barack Obama’s Wednesday night speech at the Democratic National Convention (DNC), there were a few points during MSNBC’s coverage in the early hours of Thursday that couldn’t go by without being chronicled for NewsBusters readers.

NYT's Post-DNC High: 'Obama Laps the Field,' Fox Bias 'Under Fire'

The New York Times post-convention political roundup praised Democratic stage-craft, Hillary Clinton’s acceptance speech, and forwarded complaints about bias at Fox News (but not CNN). Adam Nagourney’s “Stark Contrasts in Style and Substance” praised Democratic convention stagecraft and says that as a speaker who can “move a crowd, seize a moment...Barack Obama laps the field.”

PBS Indicts White Men on Hillary: Guilty of 'Ambivalent Sexism'

Liberals are unhappy at this point that Hillary Clinton isn’t trouncing Donald Trump, so there must be an obvious culprit: Sexism. Especially among white males, the most likely Republican voters. On Thursday night’s PBS NewsHour, they interviewed their own correspondent Daniel Bush on their question “Does gender bias explain why Hillary Clinton has fared so poorly with white male voters?” Bush…

Rolling Stone’s Matt Taibbi Trashes ‘The Myth of the Liberal Media’

Is media bias just smart marketing? Yes, suggests Taibbi, who claims it’s “irrelevant” that “most individual reporters” are liberals given that their profit-driven, audience-conscious corporate overlords keep them on a short leash. “Whatever their personal leanings, influential reporters mostly work in nihilistic corporations, to whom the news is a non-ideological commodity, to be sold the same…

Not News at AP, NY Times: Forced Labor in Venezuela

Now we know why Nicolas Maduro, Venezuela's de facto dictator, recently handed over responsibility for food production to the military: He's going to need soldiers on farms and elsewhere in the food distribution chain to keep conscripted workers in line. That's because on July 22, now over a week ago, Maduro's government decreed "... that any employee in Venezuela can be effectively made to work…

Late Night Comics Declare Allegiance to Hillary Clinton

Johnny Carson delivered, and he did so without revealing his party affiliation. That was then. Now, we have late night comics choosing sides. Some, like Trevor Noah, Larry Wilmore and Seth Meyers, are essentially signing up for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.

Bozell & Graham Column: When Trump's Speeches Aren't 'News'

For more than a year, the cable-news networks have feasted on Donald Trump, covering him live, day after day, for hours and hours. Republican contenders couldn’t hope to get a fraction of his TV time. Now that Trump’s secured the nomination, is it possible that the networks will “suddenly” lose interest in every Trump speech? It certainly looked that way when Trump spoke to the Veterans of…

Mediaite Crushes on Joe Biden for His Cameo on 'Law & Order: SVU'

In addition to being known as the Vice President of the United States and his penchant for putting his foot in his mouth, Joe Biden is also known for doing a cameo on a TV show. He played himself as the man-crush of the local politician on the NBC comedy show Parks and Recreation and is now taking on a more seriously role – still playing himself on NBC’s Law & Order: SVU. It’s hard to imagine…

Trevor Noah: Satirist? Or DNC Sellout?

The shocking Wikileaks e-mails wrenched from the Democratic National Committee added more weight to something we already knew: Democrats and the "objective" media closely coordinate and cultivate a joint set of images and messages. But that's not all. Supposedly nonpartisan, independent "satirists" in late-night TV have been the darlings of the Left, but pretended to mock both sides. Comedy…

Democrats Draw Far More Network Overtime at the Conventions

Republican National Committee spokesman Sean Spicer put on his media-critic hat on the GOP.com blog  on Thursday to complain that ABC, CBS, and NBC gave several hours more live coverage of their conventions, largely the overflow into the local-news hour at 11 pm Eastern time. The GOP says across the three networks, it drew 47 minutes of overtime, compared to 261 minutes for the Democrats. Our…
