How Unhinged Media Bias Cost Me My Job

Nowhere is the dearth of opposing opinion more apparent than on the opinion editorial pages of major newspapers.  Syndicated columnists are given space, but local columnists with a right leaning political perspective are few and far between.  Such was my situation as a freelance columnist for the St. Louis Post Dispatch.

Does The Literary Community Support Gun Rights?

Culture
What do a transgender rights activist, a liberal arts professor, a civil engineer, and a second-wave feminist have in common? They are all authors who decided to join the Everytown Authors Council in the liberal fight against gun rights, or, in their own words, “gun violence.”

Comedy Central: NRA Convention Is ‘Comic Con for Death’

A new special promises to bridge the partisan divide on the national gun debate ... but so far it sounds like more of the same. Comedy Central routinely takes a pro-gun control position through its comedic programming. Consider The Daily Show with Trevor Noah and Inside Amy Schumer as Exhibits A & B. You may want to add Jordan Klepper’s upcoming special to that list.

'Dear White People' Series: 'White People are the F***ing Worst'

Culture
The controversial Netflix series Dear White People was finally released on Friday, April 28, and let me tell you, the "dear" in the title is NOT a term of endearment. In fact, to quote one of the show's writers, F*** White People would probably have been more appropriate, with cops and Republicans being singled out for particular hatred.

Female Conservative Loses Gig at St. Louis Paper After Pro-NRA Column

On Monday, conservative columnist Stacy Washington was suspended/terminated from her job as a columnist for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and companion website stltoday.com after she defended the National Rifle Association (NRA)on April 28 from a ludicrous suggestion that they’re similar to ISIS.

Euthanasia Drama Has 15-Year-Old Boy Beg for Mother's Assisted Suicide

Culture
Reminiscent of Scandal’s 2015 winter finale episode, which showed an abortion set to the song “Silent Night,” the second episode of Lifetime’s Mary Kills People, “The River Styx,” had Mary end someone’s life to Sarah McLachlan’s “Full of Grace.” On Sunday night’s episode, the 15-year-old son of a woman suffering from ALS holds life-ending “nurse” Mary Harris’s (Caroline Dhavernas) partner, Des (…

NYT Touts Dubious Anti-Gun Study to Smear Owners as Road-Rage Killers

The New York Times has an unhealthy obsession with firearms. Recently the paper came in for mockery for a signed editorial that actually attacked the National Rifle Association for featuring guns in its gun museum. On Wednesday it trustingly latched on to a dubious study showing a correlation between gun ownership and road rage killings. Christopher Mele penned “Firearms and Drivers, A Lethal…

CNN.com Offers No Context as Baltimore Asks For More FBI Help

In a report which comes off as something it felt obligated to address but with as little meaningful information as possible, a story at CNN.com tells readers that "Murder Is Out of Control" in Baltimore — to the point where the city is begging the FBI for additional help. The story is so utterly devoid of background that those who haven't followed the city's woes closely could read it and believe…

Free Beacon Mocks NYT: Gasp! Guns at Gun Museum!

Washington Free Beacon writer Stephen Gutwoski on Tuesday exposed the insanity of a New York Times op-ed complaining about all the guns in the National Rifle Association’s gun museum. Francis X Clines whined on Monday, “There are thousands of ingenious, gleaming rifles and handguns in displays about America's gun-rich history of colonialism, immigration, expansionism and vigilante justice.”

Lib, Anti-Gun Professor Gets Schooled on This NBC Drama

Culture
Based in a city that’s the murder capital of the country with some of the strictest gun laws in the nation, it was only a matter of time before NBC’s new spin-off show Chicago Justice dealt with the issue of guns. But the surprise was how they handled it. Star Assistant State’s Attorney Peter Stone (Philip Winchester) is the only adult who defends gun rights in a story that sheds a light on what…

Gun Grabbing Group Advised ‘Designated Survivor’s’ Propaganda Episode

If it sounded like Wednesday’s episode of Designated Survivor was straight from a gun control organization’s playbook, you would be right. As reported by the Washington Free Beacon’s Steve Gutowski, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence advised on the April 12 show in which “President Kirkland” (played by Kiefer Sutherland) lobbies for anti-Second Amendment legislation to pass the Senate.

‘Designated Survivor’ Doubles Down on Anti-Gun Hysteria

Culture
The latest episode of ABC’s Designated Survivor made it abundantly clear that the conspiracy element of this show is merely a thin patina of intrigue allowing the writers to wipe away Republican congressional majorities and fantasize about the “progress” they could be making in the wake of a massive crisis. The April 12 episode doubled down on last week’s anti-gun rhetoric, mentioning “background…

ABC’s 'Designated Survivor' is a Mouthpiece for Gun Control

Culture
The Wednesday, April 5, episode of ABC’s conspiracy drama, Designated Survivor, may as well have been written by the Brady Campaign, or any one of Michael Bloomberg’s consortium of anti-Second Amendment organizations. For those unfamiliar with Kiefer Sutherland’s new role as President Tom Kirkman, he seems to have done a complete 180 from his days as 24’s Jack Bauer.

HBO's ‘Big Little Lies’ Promotes Female Empowerment Via Gun Ownership

Culture
It’s no secret how much hate the left harbors towards guns, and how the media avoid reporting on the number of lives saved by them. But Sunday night’s episode of HBO's Big Little Lies, “Once Bitten,” gave a rare glimpse into the benefits of gun ownership, particularly for women who have been victims of violent crime.
