Among the highlights for the first day of CPAC 2017, White House chief strategist Steve Bannon and chief of staff Reince Priebus doubled down on their attacks against the media as the former referred to them as “the opposition party” having been “dead wrong” about the election to the point that life will “get worse every day” as the administration implements their agenda.

For many years, liberal pundit Alan Colmes often provided the “balanced” part of the Fox News Channel motto of being “Fair and Balanced.” That came to abrupt end when the 66-year-old former stand-up comedian, radio host and co-host of the Hannity & Colmes weeknight news and interview program passed away after a brief illness on Thursday.

Throughout Wednesday’s Hardball, MSNBC host Chris Matthews expressed no concerns or reservations about the “grassroots resistance” and “anger from progressives” on display at congressional and Senate Republican town halls. All the while, he sang a different tune seven and eight years ago when the Tea Party was born, denouncing them as racists and sexists who shouldn’t be given the light of day.

On Wednesday, NBC’s Today and CBS This Morning both hailed liberal protesters “sounding off” at congressional town hall meetings “to put the breaks on President Trump's agenda” and giving Republican lawmakers an “earful.” In 2009, the same networks warned similar public meetings were “getting out of hand” when “unruly” Tea Party demonstrators spoke out against the Obama administration.   

When it comes to Hollywood, viewers on both sides of the aisle agree: political speeches aren’t that convincing. Only 25 percent of participants have ever changed their opinions based on information presented in a political awards show speech.
