If aliens were to come to earth this week and witness firsthand the gloating going around Twitter over the president and his wife contracting coronavirus, they’d probably leave and never come back. In fact, they might want to drop a few planet-killing payloads and put us all out of our misery.

All three networks opened their Friday morning broadcasts eagerly promoting the idea that President Trump becomes gravely ill from the coronavirus. Immediately after he announced his positive test overnight, CNN broke in with hours of ghoulish gossip, expecting the worst, and this morning the more subdued networks floated the same possibility

On CNN, Anthony Scaramucci, who was fired after an historically short tenure as President Trump's communications director, says he sees President Trump's COVID illness as "Mother Nature sending a message." CNN host John Berman raised no objection, saying "we appreciate your time this morning, appreciate your insight." 

Throughout Friday’s early hours, CNNers repeatedly expressed best wishes to President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump after having tested positive for the coronavirus. But behind those best wishes, CNN not only levied their usual, poisonous rhetoric, but plenty of subliminal levels of apocalyptic brainstorming, gloating, and calls for a return to global lockdowns.
