Naughty List: 'Christian' Schools That Support Abortion Rose By 10% Post-Roe

If a school claims to support Christian beliefs and values, it shouldn’t also support abortion.

The Students for Life of America organization runs what’s called the Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement team, which surveyed every single faith-based four-year college and university in the United States and found that since Roe v. Wade was overturned, the number of those schools who support abortion has gone up by roughly 10 percent.

The Students for Life report found that 76 schools out of 767 colleges and universities affiliated with Christian churches support abortion by having relationships with Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry.

It’s no surprise that Planned Parenthood targets college students for abortions. It makes abortions enticing. As a matter of fact, 87 percent of Planned Parenthood locations are located within five miles or less of a college campus. Think about it: "a broke, irresponsible college kid can’t raise a kid of their own" is often the rhetoric Planned Parenthood runs with. Sadly, as the Demetree study discovered, one in 10 supposedly Christian higher education institutions enable or facilitate the murder of the innocent.

Students for Life grades the colleges and universities on how pro-life or pro-abortion they are. Christian institutions with one infraction - or one point against life on their tract record - receive a “B” grade. Some of these schools include St. Joseph's University in Pennsylvania and Trinity Washington University in D.C., both Catholic schools.

The group's “C” grade ratings go to schools with two infractions, like Boston College (Catholic) and Texas Christian University. Wesleyan College and the Santa Clara universities both received a “D,” and Duke University and America University, both Methodist, received an “F.”

After Students for Life reached out to the 76 schools, eight of them removed “some or all” connections to the abortion industry, moving six of them up to an “A” grade. As Students for Life noted, “they’re officially on the Nice List.”

Demetree conducted the same study back in 2021 and found that since then, the number of Christian schools supporting abortion have gone up. Keep in mind, this is after Roe v. Wade was overturned.

For example, as Students for Life pointed out, Holly Cross College, a Jesuit Catholic college in Massachusetts, previously was awarded an A+ for supporting life, but “following the reversal of Roe, their Women and Gender Studies department used the school’s website to ‘condemn’ the decision, demonstrating their commitment to abortion over biblical values.”

These institutions compromise on the biblical morals the schools claim to support in order to permit and celebrate the termination of innocent life.

Students for Life of America pointed out that the aim of the project isn't to put these schools on blast. Instead, the objective “is to raise public awareness of Christian schools maintaining relationships with Planned Parenthood or support for abortion so that these schools can be inspired to realign with their Christian beliefs.”

At the end of the study, readers were encouraged to reach out to the “naughty list” schools and encourage them to actually uphold and stand true to their Christian values as they claim to do.
