Despite recent revelations that the Pentagon may have been hiding $125 billion in wasteful spending, the Big Three networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) all knocked President-Elect Donald Trump Tuesday for tweeting his disapproval of the $4 billion price tag of two new presidential aircraft. “President-Elect Donald Trump's sparking a new controversy over Air Force One after once again, taking to social media to criticize an American business,” whined fill-in Anchor Tamron Hall on NBC Nightly News. But each one of them reported a different price tag for the project.
In this week’s edition of the liberal media normalizing the abhorrent “alt-right” and neo-Nazi movement led by Richard Spencer, CNN dedicated 36 minutes and 46 seconds over the course of 24 hours on Monday and Tuesday to previewing a Spencer speech at Texas A&M University despite correctly emphasizing he has a “hate-filled mission.”
It is clear that many at Univision are still trying to process what happened last month. This much was evident on the most recent edition of the network's weekly public affairs program, Al Punto, as both host and guest struggled to understand the outcome of the election.
On Tuesday, both NBC’s Today and CBS This Morning were eager to promote congressional Democrats attacking Donald Trump’s pick for Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Ben Carson, noting the liberal lawmakers “slamming his lack of experience.”
According to Brent Bozell, liberal journalists are “being neutered” by Donald Trump as he goes around them and talks directly to Americans. Appearing on Varney and Co., the MRC president discussed Trump’s use of Twitter. Bozell concluded, “I see CNN and others growing as well because of their opposition to Trump. However, I see them being neutralized. And I see them being neutered, again, because Donald Trump will go around them, not talk to them.”
Liberal post-election tears have really been delicious, but this is just getting silly. On December 5, The Washington Post’s Stephanie Land wrote a completely serious, non-satirical article titled, “Trump’s Election Stole My Desire to Look for a Partner.” Before the election, she had been searching for a “supportive” partner to quench her loneliness and help raise her two kids.
After Donald Trump chose former presidential candidate Ben Carson to lead the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), journalists ridiculed the choice, mocked Carson’s beliefs and labeled him a “scammer.” Squawk Box co-anchor Joe Kernen anticipated the liberal media reaction on Dec. 5, saying, "Let's see, he's not a billionaire, so how's the mainstream media going to trash him? He's a -- he's just a loyalist. He's a doctor. Doesn't know anything about housing."
The liberal media was still up in arms Monday night over President-Elect Donald Trump accepting a congratulatory phone call from the president of the island of Taiwan. “Already, Trump has caused quite a stir on the world stage,” whined ABC’s Jon Karl on World News Tonight, “Ruffling China’s feathers by talking to the president Taiwan.” While chastising the president-elect for his phone call and selected defense tweets, they failed to mention the nearly two billion dollars in arms sales to Taiwan under President Barack Obama.
As traditional media continue to disparage President-elect Donald Trump’s every move, MRC Vice President for Business and Culture Dan Gainor mocked the hate fest. “The American media have so lost their moorings since the post-election. They’re even worse than they were before the election,” he argued. Gainor sat down with Trish Regan on Fox Business Network’s Intelligence Report on December 5 to talk about how the major media want “to depict everything he’s [Trump] doing as crazy.” While Regan accused the media of “overreacting,” Gainor explained that not only do they dislike that Trump is president, but “they hate his use of Twitter as well.”
Filling in for MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell on Monday, NBC national correspondent Peter Alexander wrung his hands over President-elect Donald Trump using social media to circumvent the liberal media: “...one of the real challenges here with social media is that Donald Trump can spew an idea that millions of people voted illegally and ultimately not be pressed to defend such a thing. We just talked about fake news, this sort of stuff propels a lot of people to believe it.”
CBS’s 60 Minutes scored a sit-down on Sunday with House Speaker Paul Ryan, conducted by host Scott Pelley, in which he sought to corner Ryan from the left on the repeal of ObamaCare supposedly putting millions of Americans at risk for no healthcare and whether or not President-elect Donald Trump says as many “bizarre things” in private as he does when tweeting.
On Monday, the networks continued their freak-out over President-elect Donald Trump accepting a congratulatory phone call from the president of Taiwan. The CBS, NBC, and ABC morning shows all fretted over the “diplomatic firestorm” sparked by the “controversial” move.
