It was day one of the Republican National Convention with the main events yet to kick-off, and the liberal broadcast networks were itching to tear into their opposition. ABC, CBS, and NBC all jumped to report on secret tape recordings made by Trump’s hate-filled niece Mary Trump of the president’s sister Maryanne Trump Barry trashing him as an unprincipled liar. 

On CNN's New Day, conservative contributor Scott Jennings suggested the secretly-recorded tape of President Trump's sister, Maryanne Barry Trump, criticizing him are "another sort of forgettable moment," which spurred debate with morning anchor John Berman, who insisted the comments land like a "ton of bricks."

As the 2020 campaign kicks into high gear, some people are going "over the top" and making serious mistakes. In what has become a tale as old as time, Univision’s Jorge Ramos attempted to gaslight his viewers into believing that a Trump statement on immigration was meant to disparage an entire community. This time, though, he was met head-on and absolutely shut down by a prepared guest.

Twitter Moments is as biased in curating the campaign as the “independent fact checkers.” It would figure that the Democratic convention would cause them all to fact check…..the Republicans, not the Democrats. Promoted at the top of the Moments this morning was this gem: "The DNC did not remove the phrase 'under God' from the Pledge of Allegiance, Snopes and PolitiFact confirm."

So it begins. The completion of the Democratic National Convention and the approaching Republican counterpart has effectively launched the final stage of the 2020 presidential campaign. And The Washington Post has hit the panic button.
