Donald Trump Jr.
Are the Trump campaign's contacts with Russians "unprecedented," as Democrats charge? Liberal journalists would like everyone to forget the Clintons and the Democratic National Committee engaged in a blatant strategy to solicit illegal foreign contributions from Asian sources before the 1996 election. Their contacts included Liu Chaoying, daughter of the senior commander of Red China’s “People’s Liberation Army,” who met with President Clinton.
The American political world was rocked Tuesday when Donald Trump Jr. released a series of e-mails that showed he was approached by and met with, someone who appeared to have ties to Russia and claimed to have damaging information about Hillary Clinton. The shocking revelation dominated the evening news coverage of the Big Three Networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC). Of the total time spent on news (minus commercials and teasers), the e-mails commanded 54 percent of the total coverage on the three networks.
Showing disdain for middle America and people not onboard with the liberal media complex, MSNBC’s Hardball host Chris Matthews mocked red states like Texas and Utah on Thursday plus anyone not concerned about the Trump-Russia collusion news, suggesting they’d “be going crazy and lighting bonfires at federal buildings” if this involved a Clinton presidency.
Conservative talk radio icon Rush Limbaugh spent the bulk of his eponymous Tuesday program responding to the troubling e-mail trail of the Donald Trump Jr.-Russian lawyer meeting by slamming the hyperventilating news media while giving a hat-tip to “our buddy Brent Bozell and his gang at NewsBusters.”
All three networks spent so much time Monday morning breathlessly questioning whether or not Donald Trump Jr. “colluded” with Russia by agreeing to a meeting with an anonymous Russian lawyer during the campaign, that they couldn’t find any time to report on another important development in the same investigation--perhaps because it wasn’t centered on the Trump campaign.
If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and swims like a duck, don’t try to tell tell Whoopi it’s a duck.
On June 13, 2017, The View host Whoopi Goldberg claimed the connections between the main character of Shakespeare in the Park’s Julius Caesar and Donald Trump were dubious.
Implying the only likenesses between the Shakespeare in the Park production’s main character and Trump were the fact that both were white, wore red ties, and had blond hair, Goldberg proceeded to claim that the play was simply a contemporary representation of Shakespeare’s classic – nothing more. According to Goldberg, “some bonehead on Fox” was reading too much into the matter, mistaking simple Shakespeare for political satire. After all, theater often “contemporizes” productions, host Sunny Hostin weighed in – and indeed, “they always do that.” “This is not the story of Donald Trump,” host Jedediah Bila agreed.
Late Tuesday morning, leaked images of washed up comedian and CNN News Year’s Eve co-host Kathy Griffin holding a bloody mockup of President Trump’s head aloft went viral. It took CNN hours before any host on the channel dared to bring her up. Following a warning for graphic content, Jake Tapper, host of The Lead, displayed an image. The members of Tapper’s panel were unfazed by the display, with Molly Ball of The Atlantic claiming that the Trump family’s outrage was just them playing the victim card.
Chelsea Handler's tweet on Monday in reaction to the announcement by Lara and Eric Trump that they are expecting their first child shows that we have yet to reach bottom in anti-Trump meanness and incivility, and that the "leave the family alone" admonishment is so 2016. Serendipitously, given that the left routinely ridicules many of the center-right's supporters and everyday Americans in general as ignoramuses, Handler's tweet also reflects badly on her literacy.
Seemingly desperate to find a new angle to bash President-Elect Donald Trump Tuesday, NBC Nightly News leaped onto accusations by TMZ that the Trump family were selling access. “Tonight the Trump transition team is pushing back after a new controversy involving the president-elect's sons,” hyped Anchor Lester Holt, “After reports surfaced that are raising questions about whether they were planning to swap big money charity donations to gain access to their father.”
On Tuesday's New Day, CNN co-host Chris Cuomo not only showed a double standard in aggressively debating GOP Rep. Sean Duffy on the issue of restricting immigration from Muslim countries while going more softly on Democratic Rep. Keith Ellison, but he also tried to downplay the odds of refugees committing terrorist acts as he misleadingly recalled the findings of the libertarian CATO Institute on the subject of risk to Americans posed by refugees.
