On Monday, the network morning shows were simultaneously giddy with excitement over FBI director James Comey “clearing” Hillary Clinton by closing the bureau’s investigation into her email scandal while also being fearful over the “political damage” that had been done to the Democratic nominee in the final days of the campaign.

On Friday, a Virginia jury determined that Rolling Stone magazine defamed former University of Virginia associate dean of students Nicole Eramo when it published, and then refused to fully retract, its 9,000-word November 2014 "A Rape on Campus" story — and that the magazine did so with malice.

After ignoring the bombshell news that the FBI is conducting an active investigation into the Clinton Foundation, Good Morning America on Friday finally noticed the story. But only for 40 seconds and only to dismiss it as “inaccurate and “unsubstantiated.” CBS This Morning’s Major Garrett followed up by chiding “unconfirmed speculation.” 

In 2015 assistant attorney general Peter Kadzik gave a heads-up to the Clinton campaign that a Department of Justice (DOJ) official would be testifying to Congress about State Department e-mails — in fact the subject line of the e-mail was “heads up.” So how much time did the Big Three (ABC, CBS, NBC) networks devote to this latest bombshell from WikiLeaks release? Ever since it was announced, on Friday, that the FBI was pursuing new leads into the investigation of Hillary Clinton’s e-mail server scandal, the Big Three (ABC, CBS, NBC) networks have gone into attack mode against James Comey, turning what should be a scandal about Clinton into a smear against the FBI director. 

Thursday morning on ABC’s Good Morning America, anchor George Stephanopoulos and commentator Cokie Roberts repeatedly cast doubt on the idea that Donald Trump’s sexual assault accusations could be false. After being grilled by Stephanopoulos, Trump dismissed the accusations as made up stories but that wasn’t adequate for ABC’s Cokie Roberts who reacted skeptically.

Former Bill Clinton operative turned Good Morning America co-host George Stephanopoulos grilled Donald Trump about his campaign against the wife of his old boss. The businessman brought up Stephanopoulos’s shady connections, including $75,000 in secret donations to the Clinton Foundation.
