For a media wallowing in the toxic political culture, one would think Friday’s bill signing of a massive overhaul at the scandal-ridden Department of Veterans Affairs (V.A.) would provide a chance to show that Washington has accomplished something. Alas, it was not to be as ABC and NBC refused to directly cover this bipartisan achievement for the Trump administration.

On Monday morning, even rumors about the possibility of Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy retiring sent the network morning shows into panic mode. Reporters wrung their hands over the potential that President Trump could replace the high court’s “swing vote” and make it “solidly conservative for decades.”

In Friday’s edition of liberal media double standards, the CBS Evening News and NBC Nightly News saw no reason to cover new audio out of Nebraska in which a state Democratic Party official used an expletive to proclaim he’s “glad” Republican Congressman Steve Scalise (La.) “got shot” on June 14.

On Friday, ABC’s Good Morning America could not contain its disgust over the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals upholding a Mississippi religious freedom law that protects business owners with religious objections from being forced to participate in gay weddings, among other provisions.

So much for those calls for civility in the wake of the shooting of Rep. Steve Scalise. On Thursday, Democratic Senator and progressive hero Elizabeth Warren disgustingly accused the Republicans of funding their health care bill with “blood money” and  “paying for tax cuts with American lives.”  Surely the Big Three (ABC, CBS, NBC) networks would condemn such language in this new era of civility…

On ABC’s Good Morning America on Thursday, while discussing the upcoming release of the Senate’s health care reform bill political analyst Matthew Dowd compared Republicans to naughty children trying to conceal misbehavior: “It’s as if you walk in your living room and your kids are trying to hide something under the cushion. Pity ABC, NBC and CBS News. If the fall TV season comes and Sean Spicer is no longer White House Press Secretary, they’ll have to talk about something besides Saturday Night Live. On Wednesday morning, White House press secretary Sean Spicer gave an interview to rumored replacement and conservative talk radio host Laura Ingraham and lambasted the opposition party that he faces at the Briefing Room podium as wannabe “YouTube stars” thirsting for “getting their clip on air” tussling with Spicer.
