What’s more important? A staff member for a Republican senator apparently “liking” a pornographic tweet on Twitter or a Democratic senator on trial for bribery and corruption, facing possible resignation and years in prison? If you answered with the first option, then you might work for NBC News. 

In a friendly softball chat with Hillary Clinton on Wednesday, NBC’s Today show co-hosts Savannah Guthrie and Matt Lauer did their best to feel the pain of the failed Democratic presidential nominee, even calling her new book about the 2016 campaign a “literary cleanse” designed to heal the wounds of her defeat.    

During an exclusive live interview with Hillary Clinton on Wednesday’s NBC Today to promote her new book about the 2016 presidential campaign, co-host Matt Lauer was eager to enable her to keep making excuses for her loss to Donald Trump.
