When CNN Newsroom got the breaking news on Thursday that the Supreme Court had invalidated President Trump's efforts to undo DACA, the network's chief legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin was a logical choice to bring on to discuss the matter. However, instead of discussing legal matters, Toobin praised Chief Justice John Roberts as a politician who is in tune with public opinion.

Chris Hayes, host of MSNBC’s All In¸ stated in a Thursday night interview with New York Times op-ed columnist Michelle Goldberg, that Chief Justice John Roberts acted politically to fight the Trump administration on LGBTQ and DACA in order to actually help Republicans in an election year. He particularly cited public polling to bolster the high court decisions.

ABC News broke in Thursday morning with an enthusiastic report hailing the Supreme Court for striking down the Trump administration’s bid to end the DACA program. Coming on the heels of the court’s pro-LGBT ruling earlier this week, the ABC journalists reveled in Chief Justice John Roberts “siding with the liberals” again but also giving a “body blow” to President Trump.
