As NewsBusters reported Monday night, NBC News has launched a new report series dedicated to promoting the “big ideas” put forward solely by Democratic 2020 candidates ahead of the debates in a few weeks. Tuesday’s edition followed California Senator Kamala Harris as she campaigned in South Carolina to jack up the death tax to pay for an increase in teacher salaries.

With almost a year and a half to go until the 2020 general election, Tuesday’s editions of ABC’s World News Tonight and CBS Evening News showed that the media didn’t learn anything from 2016. Nearly two weeks ahead of the first Democratic Party debate, both broadcast networks boasted about former Vice President Joe Biden’s 13-point national lead against President Trump.

We always knew that far-left HBO host Bill Maher was cynical, but every now and then he reveals just how cynical. Appearing on Cuomo Prime Time, Monday, Maher admitted that Hillary Clinton was a “terrible” candidate who “obstructed justice” with her secretive handling of e-mails. Quite a contrast to what he said in 2016 about the noble “wonk” who only used a private server for efficiency. 

On Tuesday, NBC News announced its moderators for the pair of Democratic debates scheduled for June 26 and 27 on NBC, MSNBC, and Telemundo. Predictably, NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt, Meet the Press host Chuck Todd, Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie, and Telemundo anchor Jose Diaz-Balart were all named. Along the way was this back and forth with host Brian Kilmeade (check out the rest of the post for more).

When I appeared on Fox on Friday morning, we talked about how the "news" is too often wild speculation about Trump's doom. This was my example: on Thursday afternoon on CNN's Newsroom with Brooke Baldwin, the host asked legal analyst Renato Mariotti to explain an article he wrote for Politico magazine about how Donald Trump should totally be indicted for crimes if he loses in 2020. 

Appearing on Fox News @ Night on Friday, Media Research Center president Brent Bozell discussed his new book, Unmasked: Big Media’s War Against Trump, and how it relates to news coverage of the 2020 presidential race. He particularly called out the press for being “in lockstep with the Democratic Party” even as the party moves far left.

As Joe Biden gave in to left-wing demands that he abandon his support for the Hyde Amendment, which restricts federal funding for abortion, on Friday, ABC’s Good Morning America and CBS This Morning managed to report the news without mentioning that the majority of American oppose the radically pro-abortion stance.
