Each night of the Republican National Convention (RNC) and presumably for this week’s Democratic National Convention (DNC), MSNBC has and will continue to offer live coverage through 2:00 a.m. Eastern time and in the final two hours, some strange and wacky moments came about for those of us watching at NewsBusters.

The “big three” networks of ABC, CBS, and NBC were hard pressed for time on Monday night to comment on speeches at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) by Senators Elizabeth Warren (Mass.) and Bernie Sanders (Vt.), but there was time after First Lady Michelle Obama’s speech to gush over her “artfully painted” address featuring “trademark...grace” in attacking Donald Trump.

Following the highly anticipated DNC speech by First Lady Michelle Obama on Monday, CNN’s Anderson Cooper called out Political Commentator Van Jones for crying during the speech. “Well I mean, first of all, if you weren't moved by that, go see the doctor,” he responded. Sarah Silverman may be a comic known for using the words “fag,” “retarded” and calling Jesus fictional, but the journalists at MSNBC were absolutely entranced over her speech on Monday to the Democratic Convention. At one point, Silverman admonished the Bernie Sanders crowd for being reluctant to support Hillary Clinton: “Can I just say to the Bernie or bust people, you're being ridiculous.” 

In the short time between speeches during Monday’s primetime schedule of the Democratic National Convention (DNC), CNN and MSNBC went out of their way to absolutely swoon over Senator Cory Booker’s speech that they deemed “brilliant,” “a home run,” and “powerful” that the assembled pundits claim they hadn’t seen since then-Illinois State Senator Barack Obama at the 2004 DNC.
