Dem Tweet Laments How Minimum Wage Is 'Worth Less Than When Reagan Was in Congress'

In December, NPR, the New York Times, National Journal, and other establishment press platforms gave the Republican National Committee grief over the following tweet: "Today we remember Rosa Parks' bold stand and her role in ending racism." The tweet erronseously shortened the following sentence from a longer GOP statement: "“We remember and honor Rosa Parks today for the role she played in fighting racism and ending segregation." Juliet Lapidos at the Times noted that the tweet was corrected in 3-1/2 hours, and seemed to lament that it took so long.

On Friday, "the official Twitter account of the Democratic Party" tweeted the following in support of increasing the federally mandated minimum wage (HT Patterico):

Though several center-right blogs and outlets noted the incredibly ignorant tweet, I could not find an establishment press outlet which did. The Associated Press had nothing at its national site. I guess only mistaken Republican tweets are newsworthy.

John Hinderaker at Powerline noted what it must have taken for the tweeter to feel comfortable about making such a ridiculous statement:

... in order to assert the proposition contained in the tweet, you have to have dates for when Reagan was in Congress so that you can apply the CPI to those dates and conclude that the minimum wage is worth less today. One pictures Pajama Boy trying to remember just when it was that Ronald Reagan graced the House of Representatives–long before his time, that’s for sure.

Moving at the speed of government, the party of Big Government took almost a full day, and possibly longer, to remove the tweet.
