Kimmel to Harris: As President, Will You ‘Prosecute’ Trump and ‘Hench Characters?’

March 20th, 2019 1:00 PM

Far-left late night host Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday tried to decide which Democrat he will support in 2020. As the comedian interviewed Kamala Harris, he also prompted the Senator on a hypothetical scenario: Would she, after winning the White House in 2020, prosecute Donald Trump and his “hench characters.”

After Harris touted her experience as a prosecutor, the Jimmy Kimmel Live host demanded, “You're saying if you are president and Donald Trump is out of White House, you will then continue to prosecute him and his various hench characters?”

In other words, Kimmel was promoting a version of “lock him up.” Harris didn’t take the hard-left bait, responding, “I am very supportive of Bob Mueller being able to finish his process and do his job.”

Considering that Kimmel openly lobbies for policy on his show (like when he demanded that ObamaCare not be repealed), it’s not surprising that his 2020 quandary is which Democrat to support? Kimmel basically put that question to Harris:

So how are you different from, obviously besides being yourself and your background. But as far as policy goes, as far as plan goes, how are you different? Because, for me, that's what I need to figure out. Okay, there's a lot of people here.

In May of 2018, the ABC host fawned over “fun grandma” Elizabeth Warren. In April of that year, he drooled over Joe Kennedy and wondered: “When are you going to run for President?” He’s called Republicans “mentally ill” and said of attacking the GOP in general: “You can’t go too far.”

It’s not surprising that Republicans (and even Democrats) see the late night hosts as all far-left.

JIMMY KIMMEL: A lot of people running for the Democratic nomination, and you mostly agree on things. Would you say that's fair?

KAMALA HARRIS: I think on a lot of issues, yeah. That's right.

KIMMEL: So how are you different from, obviously besides being yourself and your background. But as far as policy goes, as far as plan goes, how are you different? Because, for me, that's what I need to figure out. Okay, there's a lot of people here.

...

HARRIS: I also believe that what voters are going to want, they are going to want that there is someone who has the proven ability to prosecute the case against this administration. And this president.

KIMMEL: Yeah. People do want that.

...

KIMMEL: You're saying if you are President and Donald Trump is out of White House you will then continue to prosecute him and his various hench characters?

HARRIS: I am very supportive of Bob Mueller being able to finish his process and do his job.
