Scarborough to Hugh Hewitt on Clinton Coverage: 'You're Full of It, Owe Me Apology'

November 9th, 2015 9:50 AM

On today's Morning Joe, an incensed Joe Scarborough told Hugh Hewitt he was "full of it," and that "you owe me an apology."

Scarborough was steamed that Hewitt seemed to suggest that Joe was part of the "Manhattan-DC Beltway elite" that refused to cover Hillary's scandals. Scarborough said "I put my neck on the line every day here," covering Hillary and criticizing media bias.

At the end of the segment, Mika Brzezinki came to Scarborough's defense. She told Hewitt that if he watched a recording of his appearance, "you might want to come back," seeming to imply he might want to take up Joe's demand for an apology.

HUGH HEWITT: Right now, last week in the Washington Free Beacon, Lachlan Markay had a piece on former Secretary of State Clinton's NDA, her nondisclosure agreement Last week there was a piece by Reuters on the Teneo group's relationships with the Department of State. There appear to be lies in Mrs. Clinton's immediate past. Those will be problematic.

. . .

It's useful for me to come on a show like this that said hey folks, look, over here, there are two major Hillary stories which no one's covering while we're trying to find Ben Carson's friend from 40 years ago. Eventually it adds up to a narrative. David Maranis proved this when he wrote his biography of Barack Obama. You folks in the Manhattan/DC Beltway media elite --

JOE SCARBOROUGH: Oh no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Hugh, you're so full of it. You know better than that, Hugh, and you need to go back and see what I said a week ago about media bias. I put my neck on the line every single day here and I say things here, you Manhattan people?, Hugh, please don't embarrass yourself because you're talking about me, a guy who's gone after Republicans and Democrats and media bias. You owe me an apology on the air right now. Because you know better than to say that about me.

HEWITT: Oh Joe, oh Joe. I absolutely do not. The Manhattan--I didn't say that. I said the Manhattan/Beltway media elite. I love you Joe, I know you walked on the moon. But the problem is that the media.

JOE:  I did. You can't prove I didn't.

HEWITT: The mainstream will not cover Hillary's problems.

JOE: Oh my God! Oh my God! The mainstream media will not cover Hillary's problems. That's amazing.

MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Okay, [to Joe] let me take it from here. Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. Zip it. Hugh, I'd like for you to watch this interview and watch yourself. You might want to come back. You might.
