REPORT: Growing Number of Celebs In World’s Most Liberal Town Slam Cancel Culture

April 1st, 2021 11:03 AM

Cancel Culture: Those two words spell certain doom for anyone who wants to speak the truth in our increasingly Orwellian society. Now famous Hollywood celebrities – many of whom championed the radical leftism that birthed cancel culture – are speaking out because the silencing of people for having different opinions has gone too far.

A recent poll by The Hill revealed that 64% of Americans see cancel culture as a “threat to their freedom.” Even Hollywood liberals now know they can’t fully speak their minds without getting cancelled. And even if they’ve walked the tightrope of being consistent with the prevailing ideology, they could get cancelled for something they said years ago that was OK in that less politically correct environment.

Here are eight Hollywood stars who have recognized that cancel culture is toxic and have started defending free speech online and in the media.

Sarah Silverman Is Done Getting Naked For ‘Absolutist’ Dems

We should start with the most shocking Hollywood about-face from militant, dogmatic leftism to free speech advocacy: Sarah Silverman. The comedian and actress, whose career was filled with edgy atheist potshots at religious people, attacks on conservatives, intense, hate-filled epithets directed at Trump and his supporters, and support for far leftist politicians like commie sympathizer Bernie Sanders, recently began wondering if that ideology she had been contributing to had become a monstrous aberration of what it once was.

During a recent episode of her podcast, Silverman slammed the “absolutist-ness” of her Democrat Party; that idea that if you’re not woke enough, they have no room for you. She stated, It’s so fucking elitist, you know, for something called progressive, it allows for zero progress.” She also called this woke inquisition "righteousness porn," and added, "I really, I think I don’t want to be associated with any party anymore.”

Silverman even stated, “We all put too much shit on this stuff. We no longer are able to be a nation of ideas.” Wow. Perhaps Ms. Silverman will respect conservatives’ ideas instead of hearing one and immediately referring to a person who has those ideas as a “smelly pus filled[sic] penis hole.” And perhaps next time she won’t encourage voting for the woke party by showing off her naked body. We’re glad she’s coming around.

Bryan Cranston Won’t Break Bad For Cancel Culture

Sure, the Emmy award-winning actor behind legendary drug lord/suburban family man Walter White was a Hollywood lefty who despised Trump, but Bryan Cranston isn’t willing to go all the way with the cancel culture that leftist activists are promoting, apparently. This year Cranston apparently hit the wall with radicalism and slammed cancel culture in a January interview with the Associated Press.

“We live in this ‘cancel culture’ of people erring and doing wrong — either on purpose or by accident — and there’s less forgiveness in our world,” Cranston claimed, adding, “I think we’re unfortunately in a coarser environment. I think our societies have become harder and less understanding, less tolerant, less forgiving.” Of course. Well thank goodness Cranston sees it for what it is.

It’s a bit of a change from his previous condescending political attitude, which included calling  President Trump and conservatives insane and patting himself on the back for producing a Showtime series aimed at tackling “white privilege.” We wonder if he recognizes how the concept of combating “white privilege” has turned lefties into radicals who want to remove normal middle Americans from having any say in our society.

Gina Carano Puts The UFC Smackdown on Cancel Culture

Of course Gina Carano has to be included on this list as she is the most well-known and bravest truth-teller and cancel culture combatant in the entertainment industry. There’s no need to rehash each moment of her fight for free speech, but to sum it up, she was publicly critical of things woke radicals hold as sacred, all while having a prominent acting gig on Star Wars, which is produced by one of the most powerful leftwing corporations known to man. Talk about brave.

On social media, Carano mocked transgender ideology, overbearing government COVID restrictions, election fraud deniers and other things lefties deem unassailable. The Twitter mob raged at her and even demanded that her employers at Disney fire her. She still persisted in drawing controversy on the website until Disney eventually fired her from The Mandalorian. Still, Carano remained unbowed. Her resilience gained her support from millions of conservatives and the promise that her entertainment career would continue.

In February, Carano signed on with the brand new film studio at Ben Shapiro's The Daily Wire to produce her own feature-length film. In an interview with Shapiro, Carano thanked The Daily Wire for the opportunity and hit back at those who “cancelled” her: “The Daily Wire is helping make one of my dreams — to develop and produce my own film — come true. I cried out and my prayer was answered. I am sending out a direct message of hope to everyone living in fear of cancellation by the totalitarian mob.”

Comedian Bill Burr Stands Up For His Friend, Gina Carano

World reigning stand up comedy champ and Star Wars: The Mandalorian actor Bill Burr spoke out about the unreasonableness of cancel culture while defending his “Mandalorian” co-star, Carano, after Disney axed her from the series. When asked by fellow comedians Bert Kreischer  and Joe DeRosa on his podcast whether Carano was pushy with her conservative beliefs on set, Burr exclaimed, “No! She was an absolute sweetheart. … Super-nice fucking person.”

Burr also lampooned the situation, complaining that now he can’t speak his mind because the company will receive complaints about him someway, somehow. “I’m on that fucking show. Now I gotta watch what the fuck I say. And somehow someone will take this video and they'll fucking make me say something else, and you know, try to get rid of my bald action figure!", Burr stated, referencing how Carano’s face was removed from actions figures and other Star Wars merchandise. It’s comforting to know that Burr will speak about the ridiculousness of cancel culture situation.

Ralph Fiennes Defends She Who Shall Not Be Named From the Trans Mob

Legendary British actor Ralph Fiennes stuck it to the cancel culture mob recently, which he thought was being “disturbing” in its attempts to destroy Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling for her insistence that trans women cannot be considered biologically the same things as biological women.

In a fateful tweet from 2019, Rowling defended one UK biologist, Maya Forstater, who was fired from her job for her belief that there are only two biological sexes. Rowling wrote, “Dress however you please. Call yourself whatever you like. Sleep with any consenting adult who’ll have you. Live your best life in peace and security. But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real? #IStandWithMaya #ThisIsNotADrill.”

Of course this began a nearly year-and-a-half long attempt by the cancel culture mob to ruin Rowling’s career, and her fellow Brit, and the man that played Voldemort in the movie adaptation of her books, wasn’t having it. Fiennes told The Telegraph in March 2021 that he couldn’t believe the “vitriol directed” at the author, calling it “disturbing.” He also claimed, “I can understand the heat of an argument, but I find this age of accusation and the need to condemn irrational.”

Sharon Stone’s Basic Instinct Is That Cancel Culture Is ‘Stupidest Thing Ever’

Legendary 80s and 90s bombshell, actress Sharon Stone, has apparently observed how insane the culture has gotten since her primetime in Hollywood. The Basic Instinct actress had no problem admitting that “cancel culture” is a serious problem that is preventing growth and progress in our society.

In a recent interview with SiriusXM podcast Just Jenny, the 63 year-old actress slammed cancel culture as “the stupidest thing I have ever seen happen.” Elaborating, she stated that “when people say things that they feel and mean, and it's offensive to you, it's a brilliant opportunity for everyone to learn and grow and understand each other.”

Unfortunately the prevailing reality seems to be that anyone who says something offensive is completely eradicated on social media and their reputation tarnished. Stone pushed back on that disturbing trend as well, saying that people need “an opportunity to discuss things before you wipe out their entire person over a statement or a comment or a misunderstanding.”

Jamie Kennedy Unmasks His True Feelings on Cancel Culture

“The Jamie Kennedy Experiment” star and comedian Jamie Kennedy condemned cancel culture recently, saying that the phenomenon makes it a “dicey time” in our culture. While promoting his latest film Last Call in an interview with Fox News, the Son of The Mask actor lamented just how “scary” it is to be living in a time during which there is no “forgiveness.”

Kennedy began discussing the problem by mentioning the insanity of “canceling” famous “Looney Tunes” character Pepe le Pew for normalizing rape culture. The comedian told Fox, “it's a dicey time. I mean, let's take [a] recent example... Pepé Le Pew. I mean, if we put a magnifying glass to everything in history, I will assure you with the new guard you can almost cancel everything. So it's a matter of nuances and context.”

He added that people who watch cartoons like Pepe le Pew – instead of getting angry and cancelling the character – should take a deep breath and recognize that they can take “personal responsibility” and not “take your love and your sex lessons from a cartoon skunk.” Kennedy added, “It's a scary time [and] at some point you've got to live, right? It's like there's no forgiveness anymore."

Ricky Gervais Tells Cancel Culture To Bugger Off

The British comedian, creator of The Office, and star of Hulu’s Afterlife, Ricky Gervais has been one of the loudest anti-cancel culture voices in recent years. A free speech champion and hater of hypocrisy, Gervais will always be remembered for his opening monologue during the 2020 Golden Globes Award show. During the event he brutally mocked the A-list stars in attendance for their constant condescending political lectures towards normal Amercians, despite them being just as immoral and stupid as everyone else.

Gervais famously grilled the holier-than-thou crowd, “If you do win an award tonight, don't use it as a platform to make a political speech, right? You're in no position to lecture the public about anything… You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg. {I}f you win, come up, accept your little award, thank your agent and your god.”

More recently he has explicitly railed against cancel culture, which has been nourished by the type of liberal hypocrisy shown by the A-listers he rebuked. In July 2020, he referred to cancel culture as a “new, weird sort of fascism” and bashed woke zealots, saying, “Just because you’re offended … doesn’t mean you’re right.” Last December, Gervais put on a fearless face and declared that cancel culture wouldn’t stop him: “If I have to, I’ll go to Hyde Park and stand up on a bench and shout shit.”

When major players in one of the most politically radical towns in the world are starting to speak out about the dangers of cancel culture, perhaps there’s hope for the future. Or perhaps we are way past the point of no return. Either way, the canary in the coal mine is dead and this grotesque form of political correctness needs to be pushed back. Hopefully the celebrities who actually see the danger can help turn the entertainment industry back from the brink, or they need to get outta Dodge as soon as they can.
