The leftist media couldn’t convince people that Bidenomics was the American economy’s saving grace. And now they’re failing to convince people that President Donald Trump’s policies are somehow going to drive the economy into Armageddon.
Talk about fumbling over yourself on both sides of the ball.
A new CNBC/SurveyMonkey Small Business Survey found that “nearly half of small business owners (46%) now say that the economy is ‘excellent’ or ‘good’, up from 30% in Q2.” Apparently Trump made gains “even amongst Democrats,” CNBC said in its July 22 write-up.
The outlet underscored the significance of the poll results: “It's often said that the economic reality on Main Street doesn't match the mood on Wall Street, but right now small business owners are matching the market with increased confidence after a rocky start to 2025.”
This is following a seemingly never-ending cacophony of world-ending prophecies from media talking heads from The New York Times, CNN, The Washington Post and others who insisted Trump was going to wreck the economy. But the hardest hit from this latest survey has to be CNBC senior economics reporter Steve Liesman, who’s had to eat major crow for prematurely mocking Trump for supposedly doing the economic equivalent of “of steering the Titanic towards the iceberg" with his tariffs just a couple of months before a good inflation report was released that nuked his premise. Now, with his own network pulling the rug out from under him with its latest survey, Liesman may have to come back for a second helping of crow. Bon appétit!
The CNBC survey outlined the bipartisan nature of this economic sentiment upswing for Trump’s economy:
The improved sentiment extends across party lines, with 24% of small business owners who are Democrats describing the economy as good or excellent, up from 8% in Q2. There was a similar increase among Republican small business owners, with 67% having a positive view of the economy, 15 points higher than in the previous quarter.
In fact, the increase in Democrat sentiment on the economy is predominantly the cause for the CNBC/SurveyMonkey Small Business Confidence Index moving up from 51 in the previous quarter to 56 now. SurveyMonkey Senior Research Scientist Sam Gutierrez told CNBC that “Small business owners who identify as Democrats report the largest increase in sentiment.” He continued: “They are much more optimistic about business conditions compared with the previous quarter. Optimism also appears to be rising among Republican business owners: fewer now think the country is heading into a recession."
In effect, it appears not even Democrats are buying all the media doomism surrounding Trump’s economy. Oof!
