On Monday, all three broadcast network morning shows offered a heroic portrayal of the caravan of thousands of illegal immigrants heading to the U.S. border from Central America. Anchors and correspondents were particularly thrilled by the group “defying” President Trump’s demand that they turn back, being “undeterred” from “their mission to get to America.”

CBS’s Madam Secretary clearly thinks white nationalism is a threat. In fact, it needed Hillary Clinton herself to explain why nationalism is bad. This week’s episode continues that streak with a talk about the deadly threat to black people from both white nationalist terrorists and police officers.

Morning Joe co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski went on Stephen Colbert’s Late Show, Thursday, to praise liberal candidates, bash Donald Trump and make wild predictions. Scarborough insisted that Trump won’t even run in 2020: “I don't think Donald Trump is going to run for reelection. He didn't want to be elected for president. He didn't think he was going to be elected.” 

The fourth episode of CBS’s Murphy Brown reboot was rather uneventful, at least compared to the first few. Most of the storyline was devoted to a Steve Bannon-like character who has written a book about, essentially, the MAGA agenda. Murphy is being pressured by the network to interview the guy for the ratings it would bring her Murphy in the Morning show.

For all the liberal media’s efforts to claim the Republican Party was trying to scare its base to the polls, they were really working hard to paint the GOP as racist bogeymen. During Thursday’s CBS Evening News, the broadcast network parroted Democratic talking points, asserting the GOP was purging the voter rolls in Georgia of minorities.

On Tuesday, former Wall Street Journal and Roll Call reporter Glenn Simpson – who co-founded the Fusion GPS Group that commissioned the infamous anti-Trump dossier – refused to testify to the House Judiciary Committee. This key development in the Russia investigation has yet to be reported by any of the Big Three (ABC, CBS, NBC) networks on their evening or morning shows. 

Already looking past November’s midterm elections to the 2020 presidential race, on Wednesday, the hosts of CBS This Morning treated former San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro to a fawning softball interview in which they repeatedly urged the Democrat to run in two years and wondered how he could help mobilize liberal voters in the coming weeks.

Despite almost nine minutes of interview time, CBS This Morning co-host Norah O’Donnell on Thursday posed no tough questions to Joe Biden. The stock markets were volatile in October, including an all-time Dow Jones Industrial Average high and some “major” falls.
