Beginning a book tour for his new memoir, Promise Me, Dad, former Vice President Joe Biden was treated to softball questions from the hosts and a live studio audience on Monday's NBC Today. During the more than 20 minutes of glowing coverage, Biden was repeatedly pressed on whether he was running for president in 2020. The cast of the morning show was giddy at the prospect.

In a staggering example of the press lacking any self-awareness, on Monday’s NBC Today, co-host Savannah Guthrie fretted over “a recent poll that said nearly half of people think the media make up stories” and unbelievably turned to disgraced former CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather to suggest ways in which the news media could “enhance its own credibility.”

On Tuesday, all three network morning shows encouraged Tennessee Senator and outspoken Trump critic Bob Corker to step up his attacks on the President. Hosts asked the Republican lawmaker if he thought the commander-in-chief was a “threat to national security,” wondered “what’s being done about it” in Congress, and invited him to double-down on his harshest rhetoric against the President.

After Thursday’s network evening newscasts feared that President Trump’s executive action curtailing ObamaCare regulations was a threat to Barack Obama’s legacy, on Friday morning, the ABC, CBS, and NBC morning shows launched into full panic mode over “the biggest move to undermine ObamaCare yet” and touted how “Democrats call the move pointless sabotage.”

Amidst the NBC News controversy of declining to support contributor Ronan Farrow’s bombshell story on Harvey Weinstein, NBC’s Today co-host Matt Lauer praised Farrow on Wednesday for working on it at NBC but failing to disclose the network’s refusal to publish it (hence why it went to The New Yorker).

Calling in to Monday’s Today show, Las Vegas shooting eyewitness Russell Bleck praised police for their response to the tragic attack and criticized some of the recent National Anthem protests in the NFL: “I mean, just God bless the police officers. On Thursday, while ABC’s Good Morning America and CBS This Morning spent several minutes covering the new Republican tax plan and talked to top Trump administration officials about the policy, NBC’s Today couldn’t even bother to devote a single full report to the topic. Instead, the morning show devoted three times more coverage to the renewal of NBC sitcom Will & Grace.

Mothers with young daughters rejoiced on Monday when Carlos Danger, AKA former Congressman Anthony Weiner, was sentenced to 21 months behind bars for sexting with a 15-year-old girl. In a friendly softball chat with Hillary Clinton on Wednesday, NBC’s Today show co-hosts Savannah Guthrie and Matt Lauer did their best to feel the pain of the failed Democratic presidential nominee, even calling her new book about the 2016 campaign a “literary cleanse” designed to heal the wounds of her defeat.

“Too cozy,” “controversy,” “striking,” “crisis,” “startling,” those were just some of the hyperbolic terms thrown around on Wednesday’s network morning shows as hosts and correspondents panicked over news that President Trump had a casual after-dinner conversation with Vladimir Putin surrounded by dozens of other world leaders at the G20 Summit earlier this month.

On Tuesday, the hosts and correspondents of NBC’s Today could not contain their excitement as they gloated over the failure of the Republican Senate health care bill. “For seven years Republican lawmakers have vowed to overturn ObamaCare, but this morning their latest plan has come to a screeching halt,” proclaimed fill-in co-host Willie Geist.
