On Sunday's World News Tonight, at the end of a full report on liberal Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's health scare from the weekend, ABC reporter Kyra Phillips misleadingly gave the impression that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell had reacted to her health problems by ghoulishly speculating about replacing her when, in reality, she was referring to comments the Republican leader made six months ago.
Despite admitting that career ethics officials for the Justice Department approved the location of Attorney General William Barr’s family holiday party, ABC’s World News Tonight was still up in arms on Tuesday after they learned he was having it at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C.
President Trump handed the liberal media more ammunition on Wednesday when he doubled down on his inartful comments criticizing American Jews who voted for Democrats instead of siding with Israel. With the President calling them “disloyal”, accusations of anti-Semitism poured forth from the media. Meanwhile, Democratic Congresswomen Ilhan Omar (MN) and Rashida Tlaib (MI) were wrapped up in their own cases of anti-Semitism and claims of disloyalty, yet the liberal media covered for them.
During a press gaggle early Wednesday afternoon outside the White House, President Donald Trump absolutely tore into CNN, NBC News, The New York Times, and particularly NBC's Peter Alexander as “an organ of the Democrats” who’s “the most biased reporter” that he makes NBC News less credible than CNN. Yikes. That one’s gonna leave a mark! Alexander first poked at Trump with a question about a debate whether to let the G-7 return to being the G-8 by allowing Russia back in following their annexation of Crimea and support for separatists occupying eastern Ukraine.
On Wednesday, all three network morning shows wailed about President Trump daring to criticize former Democratic Congressman and 2020 presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke. However, none of broadcasts had any problem with the wildly irresponsible rhetoric that O’Rourke and other Democrats have employed since the mass shootings in Texas and Ohio over the weekend.
President Trump will be visiting with victims of both the Dayton, Ohio and El Paso, Texas mass shootings on Wednesday and paying respects to those killed. But the liberal media seem annoyed that he was doing something thoughtful.
At an event in Jamestown, Virginia Tuesday, President Trump celebrated the contributions African-Americans have to American society: “African Americans have built, strengthened, inspired, uplifted, protected, defended, and sustained our nation.” But ABC’s World News Tonight and CBS Evening News instead chose to hype the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus who boycotted the event with Democratic state delegate Delores McQuinn exclaiming: “We must never allow anyone to dismantle and to erode democracy.”
With the first week of the CBS Evening News with Norah O’Donnell in the books, it has showcased a CNN-like penchant for liberal bias and punditry masquerading as reporting. On Friday, the Trump coverage offered an embrace of anti-Semitic, corrupt, and far-left Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN) by attacking the President for “demonizing” her to please his “anti-immigrant base.” To make matters worse, an additional segment skewed the President’s “go back” tweet with the help of at least two covert liberal activists.
In the latest example of the liberal media siding with a foreign government against President Trump, ABC News and NBC News dedicated a portion of their Monday evening newscasts to hyping the U.K. ambassador to the U.S. bad mouthing the President in leaked diplomatic cables.
Kyra Phillips promoted her upcoming documentary on atheism on Tuesday's CNN Tonight by asserting that "there's such a stigma on that word 'atheist.' People think devil worshiper – no moral compass." Phillips underlined how "there was a time where they just used the word 'atheist.' And now, you are hearing 'humanist,' 'nons,' 'skeptics,' 'free-thinkers.'..this is all the same thing. These are people that don't believe in God. They're just scared to say the word."
On Friday's CNN Newsroom, Kyra Phillips boosted the latest musing of feminist blogger Amanda Marcotte, who deplored Pope Francis's recent advice to married couples to have children instead of going childless and owning pets instead. Phillips let the leftist writer assert that "the very notion that I'm anti-Catholic is completely ridiculous," but omitted the 2007 scandal where Marcotte had to leave John Edwards's campaign for a vulgar anti-Catholic screed.
The anchor also made it clear that she sympathized with her guest's pro-contraception, pro-population control column for The Daily Beast on Friday: [MP3 audio available here; video below the jump]
[Update, April 7, 10:55 am: the original blog entry inaccurately corrected Phillips for claiming that her husbands, correspondent John Roberts, has the last name "Robertson." In reality, Roberts' legal last name is indeed Robertson. The text below has been corrected to reflect that fact.]
CNN'S Kyra Phillips zeroed on the controversy surrounding Phil Robertson's remarks about homosexuality on Wednesday's New Day, as she interviewed Robertson's son Willie Robertson and his wife, Korie. Phillips played up the "firestorm" after the Duck Dynasty star's interview with GQ, and asked his son, "Is that what you believe?"
However, the correspondent went on to compliment Willie Robertson and his family for how well they apparently have raised their children: [MP3 audio available here; video below the jump]
