ABC, NBC Skip: Obama Hit Wall Street ‘Fat Cats,’ Giving $400k Speech

April 27th, 2017 1:16 PM
ABC and NBC on Thursday conveniently ignored the news that Barack Obama will be giving a $400,000 speech to Wall Street investors, the same people he decried as “fat cat bankers” in 2009. Only CBS This Morning covered the New York Times revelation — and only in an 18 second brief that avoided hypocrisy concerns.

There's Nothing Free

February 22nd, 2017 10:30 PM
It was Nobel laureate economist Milton Friedman who made famous the adage, "There's no such thing as a free lunch." Professor Friedman could have added that there is a difference between something's being free and something's having a zero price. For example, people say that there's free public education and there are free libraries, but public education and libraries cost money. Proof that they…

Minimum Wage and Discrimination

February 8th, 2017 1:42 PM
There is little question in most academic research that increases in the minimum wage lead to increases in unemployment. The debatable issue is the magnitude of the increase. An issue not often included in minimum wage debates is the substitution effects of minimum wage increases. The substitution effect might explain why Business for a Fair Minimum Wage, a national network of business owners and…

Please, No More Miracles

December 14th, 2016 6:13 PM
President-elect Donald Trump has warned companies that they are not going to leave the United States anymore "without consequences." He has lived up to his threat by pressuring Carrier to give up its planned move to Monterrey, Mexico, in exchange for a taxpayer handout. It is a safe bet that other U.S. companies will be descending on Washington looking for handouts in the name of "fair trade" and…

During an extended interview on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360 Wednesday night, things got a little heated between Cooper and Senator Elizabeth Warren. The almost 25-minute-long interview grew tense when Cooper grilled Warren on how out of touch the Democratic Party is with Middle America. “When you look at that electoral map, I mean, there is blue on both coasts basically, and there is a lot of red…

November 16th, 2016 5:54 PM

New York State’s Department of Labor recently made headlines with its rules mandating that employers paying their workforces with prepaid debit cards ensure that employees have “unlimited, free withdrawals” from at least one nearby ATM. This must be the case even if the employees have no bank accounts.

August 25th, 2016 10:10 PM
Reporters at the State Department's daily briefing were very impatient with the bobbing and weaving of spokespersons Mark Toner on Tuesday and Elizabeth Trudeau on Wednesday when they were questioned about $1.31 billion in payments out of the U.S. Treasury's Judgement Fund listed as having occurred on January 19, two days after several hostages were freed. It was also the first banking business…

Media Fail to Acknowledge Lagging Economy, Substance in Trump Speech

August 13th, 2016 9:34 AM
It’s no secret that I’m very leery of Donald Trump. Simply stated, I don’t sense any genuine commitment to smaller government and free markets. But skepticism isn’t the same as bias and there is plenty of it in the media. As Julia Seymour at Newsbusters recently pointed out: 2 of 3 Networks Cover ‘Good’ Jobs News; All 3 Silent about Collapsing GDP.

June 30th, 2016 2:28 PM
Thursday’s CBS This Morning was already on a roll as they dismissed Attorney General Loretta Lynch “innocent” meeting with former President Bill Clinton when they dug themselves further into the hole of liberal media bias as they giggled in pleading with an investment company guest to be Hillary Clinton’s Treasury Secretary under the assumption she becomes president.
