Comedians act out when elections don’t go their way – and the results are anything but funny. As the election results came in Tuesday night, comedian Stephen Colbert hosted a live election special. During his show, he invited stand-up comedian Jena Friedman on as a guest. But Friedman wasn't funny – from joking about babies born dead to comparing the election to abortion.

The liberal sulking over Donald Trump’s win on election night continued on MSNBC, Wednesday. The former editor of Newsweek huffed, “This is so, so dispiriting. I think decency lost last night. And that's what's so hurtful about this. Not just that Hillary Clinton lost, but our image of who we are as a people, that we're tolerant, decent people suffered a real setback.” 

Squawk Box host Joe Kernen blasted the “mainstream media” as the election loser saying certain outlets should accept humiliation. “The mainstream media is a loser in this and not just in trying to analyze what was happening but trying to influence and affect what was happening,” Kernen said on Nov. 9.

On Wednesday’s NBC Today, a distraught Andrea Mitchell was still struggling to come to terms with Hillary Clinton losing the presidential race and sorrowfully lamented: “...late yesterday, her team was still optimistic that they would prevail. Instead they're now planning a concession speech shortly this morning as history put on hold yet again.”

Former Obama administration "green jobs czar" Van Jones gave a very blunt, racially-tinged reaction to the impending victory of Donald Trump during CNN's Election Night coverage: "It's hard to be a parent, tonight, for a lot of us. After Donald Trump’s major upset victory in the presidential race, on Wednesday’s CBS This Morning, co-host Gayle King was perplexed by political analyst Frank Luntz explaining that Hillary Clinton “was actually not a good candidate.” She replied: “Did we hear that she was not a good candidate before last night?”

New York Times columnist Paul Krugman is not taking Donald Trump’s victory well, judging by the meltdown on his Twitter feed and an aggrieved editorial he posted as Hillary’s electoral fortunes took a turn for the worst: "America, we hardly knew ye...I have warned that we could become a failed state...deep hatred in a large segment of the population."

Minutes after President-Elect Donald Trump concluded his victory speech that ended on Wednesday around 3:00 a.m. Eastern, the cast of characters immediately demanded that Trump seek to “rectify” the tumbling stock market that could lead to an “economic collapse” similar to what Barack Obama inherited when he was inaugurated in 2009. 

A stunned Chris Matthews struggled to comprehend Hillary Clinton’s loss and the victory of Donald Trump on election night. On MSNBC, Matthews sputtered, “[Clinton] won every debate by all standards. Every debate.... She had the best ad campaign, the best ground game.”
