Cuomo: Chief Justice Roberts Is a ‘Problem’ for Not Calling Trump ‘Dangerous’

March 5th, 2020 12:06 AM

It started as a decent Wednesday segment of Cuomo Prime Time, where CNN host Chris Cuomo denounced Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) for threatening two Supreme Court justices, saying it was something the public “should not accept.” But it rapidly morphed into yet another bitter bashing with Cuomo railing against Chief Justice John Roberts for not calling President Trump “dangerous.”

“I don't like it. Senator Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. Look, I know Trump says the same crap. That is why it's wrong,” Cuomo declared. “I get Schumer’s concerns and many viewers’ about undoing Roe v. Wade. It's real. You're just not helping by appearing to threaten justices. If you act like what you oppose, how are you any better? And that’s not ‘go high when they go low.’ That's reality.”

Cuomo then pivoted to telling viewers about the “rare rebuke” Roberts put out in a statement soon after. But he turned on a dime and started to bash the Chief Justice:

Now, it drew a rare rebuke from Chief Justice Roberts, who not only called Schumer’s comments inappropriate, but dangerous. But you know what? He's a problem too, here. Why hasn't he said that about Trump?

The CNN host became more enraged while targeting the President with his vitriol. “He is the worst when it comes to respecting the judiciary. He had the gall, Trump, to say action should be taken against Schumer. That he wants to enforce civility. You want to enforce civility Mr. President? This it's easy. Start with yourself,” Cuomo proclaimed indignantly.

Back in reality, Roberts had rebuked Trump in the past after he made a deriding comment directed at a federal judge. He just didn’t do it the way Cuomo wanted.

Meanwhile, Cuomo was the last person who should be telling people how to be civil. Late last Summer, when confronted with a Trump supporter who called him “Fredo” (a reference to the dumb brother in The Godfather), the CNN host threatened to throw him down a flight of stairs. He had also thrown his support behind the domestic terrorist group Antifa by claiming they were fighting for a “good cause” and had “morality” on their side.

CHRIS CUOMO: All right. BOLO. Be on the lookout. First, what you should not accept.

SEN. CHUCK SCHUMER: I want to tell you, Gorsuch. I want to tell you, Kavanaugh. You have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price. [Transition] You won't know what you hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.

CUOMO: I don't like it. Senator Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. Look, I know Trump says the same crap. That is why it's wrong. I get Schumer’s concerns and many viewers’ about undoing Roe v. Wade. It's real. You're just not helping by appearing to threaten justices. If you act like what you oppose, how are you any better? And that’s not ‘go high when they go low.’ That's reality.

Now, it drew a rare rebuke from Chief Justice Roberts, who not only called Schumer’s comments inappropriate, but dangerous. But you know what? He's a problem too, here. Why hasn't he said that about Trump?

He is the worst when it comes to respecting the judiciary. He had the gull, Trump, to say action should be taken against Schumer. That he wants to enforce civility. You want to enforce civility Mr. President? This it's easy. Start with yourself.

And they wonder why so many of you think so little of them. It's a problem. They should fix it.
