FX's 'Snowfall' Throws Darts at Ronald Reagan's Head

FX’s Snowfall continues its season-long plot about the cocaine epidemic of the 1980s. You need a reminder that the show is about the '80s? There’s no better one than an image of President Ronald Reagan inserted into a scene. But Snowfall goes one step further with another '80s pastime: hating Ronald Reagan.

The August 9 episode “A Long Time Coming” follows young cocaine dealer Franklin (Damson Idris) as he goes with his Uncle Jerome (Amin Joseph) to meet an old acquaintance named Knees (Bokeem Woodbine), a former Black Panther. As he bemoans the lack of protestors to starve out gangs nowadays and the eventual FBI infiltration, Knees passes time by throwing darts at a portrait of the 40th president.

I’ll give the show this, unlike the false CIA scandal or an anachronistic brutality slogan, someone actually was probably throwing darts at Reagan’s head in 1983. Maybe in the New York Times building. After all, we can only hope for such civility at this point. It just goes to show you that, like the deals in the episode, liberals never let opportunities slide.
