MAGA 'Idiot': Potential Senate Candidate Walker Maligned By Deadspin

April 12th, 2021 2:38 PM

We don't know what kind of U.S. senator Herschel Walker would make, but all the right people already hate him. Deadspin and Democrat partisan Dustin Foote is on high alert over news reports that former President Donald Trump urged the football great to run for the U.S. Senate in Georgia. Walker was selected as one of Deadspin’s 2020 “Idiots of the Year,” he believes in God and is a good friend of Trump’s. In other words, he’s a real nightmare.

As a member of that idiots’ list, Walker was slimed along with U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (Rep-Alabama). Foote tore down Tuberville:

If you’ve watched Tommy Tuberville for the past few months and thought, ‘we need more MAGA sports figures who know next to nothing about our government to hold some of the most powerful political positions in the country,’ well, you’re thrilled with today’s news.

“For the rest of y’all, I regret to inform you that Herschel Walker is considering a run for U.S. Senate next year.

Walker is the potential opponent of Rev. Raphael Warnock, a pro-abortion Black Democrat elected in January to finish out the last two years of a term that expires next year.

In an interview on Fox News, Walker said he and his family are praying about running for office. He also said, “And at the same time, I take it very serious. And people want me to decide, like, right now. And I said, ‘guys, I want to take my time because this is a very serious, serious thing.’ But I will tell you this. Hershel Walker believes in God. I believe in this country. I believe in the people. And I’m going to fight for the people of Georgia if I run, so just stay tuned. And I tell you what, it’s going to be exciting.”

Foote is anything but excited about the prospects of a conservative flipping a Senate seat. His response to the above quote was a sarcastic “Joy.”

Intentionally overlooking Rev. Warnock’s lack of political experience, Foote belittled Walker for that very reason. “If elected, Walker would bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to Washington,” Foote wrote. “He had a nine-week stint on the Celebrity Apprentice, and he may have picked up a few leadership tricks from a former USFL owner (Trump).”

Walker’s considerable fame and reputation in his home state of George greatly surpass that of Sen. Warnock.:

“Of course, the former football star is a Georgia native, and won a Heisman at UGA in 1982. He probably has great name recognition in the state too. Maybe that’s part of the reason why state Republicans want the celebrity candidate, who has a close relationship with Donald Trump, to run. He’s already received a hearty endorsement  from both the former president and Georgia Representative/Q supporter Marjorie Taylor Greene. If that’s not a fast track to a Republican nomination in 2022, I don’t know what is!”

The anti-Republican hit piece also cited a Walker tweet asking GOP leaders why they weren’t supporting President Trump as the contested election was nearing an end last December. “Oh, and his son’s an idiot, too,” Foote said of Walker’s teen-age son Christian. He quoted a nasty tweet attacking Christian as someone who was “raised in a pro-Trump bubble that blinded him so he rejects reality as a coping mechanism.”
