MSNBC Trumpets TX Sportscaster Comparing Failures of Dallas Cowboys to Trump

Progressive Texas television sportscaster Dale Hansen (appearing in photo, right) won accolades from MSNBC for comparing the lies of the Dallas Cowboys to life in America right now ― a dig at President Donald Trump and Republicans.

On her "Who Won the Week" segment on Sunday, AM Joy host Joy Reid toasted Hansen as someone who spoke truth to the world in describing what he perceives as the negative state of the nation.

The Cowboys season ended recently with another disappointing playoff absence, prompting criticism from Hansen that was paired with the progressive's opposition to the Trump Administration.

Reid played the Hansen clip on MSNBC with this introduction:

"'My Who Won The Week This Week' is someone who spoke absolute truth. I don't even watch NFL football that much anymore, but this guy Dale Hansen, he's a sportscaster at WFAA. I think he spoke to and for the world when he described the state of our nation by describing the state of Dallas Cowboys fans. Take a listen."

MSNBC then ran video of Hansen's blistering comparison of the Cowboys to the state of the nation:

This Cowboys season is a perfect metaphor for life in America now. No matter how bad the Cowboys are, no matter how much they disappoint, the promises they don't keep, the embarrassing performances game after game, they apparently do just enough that the loyalty of the Cowboys fan never wavers. No matter how claims to outrageous greatness the man in charge will make, so many he appears to be delusional at times, the lies they tell, the questions they refuse to answer, the laws and rules they break, the incompetent people they hire only to be fired, it's never their fault.

Reid responded to Hansen's remarks by charging that Republican "minions are out on television trying to pretend there was an imminent attack on the United States as the reason that we took this action that could lead us into war. It is so refreshing to just say it plain and say the truth. Amen, amen, Dale Hansen."

The 2019 winner of the Radio Television Digital News Foundation (RTDNF) Lifetime Achievement Award, the bombastic Hansen last spring disputed the existence of media bias during his acceptance speech:

"We are the people who tell the truth. We report the facts and we expose the lies. Do we make mistakes sometimes? Of course we do. But anyone – anyone – who is dumb enough to confuse the occasional media mistake with media bias would be dumb enough to confuse today’s weather with climate.

“We report the facts. We report the facts. We tell the truth and we expose the lies and if not us, who? We provide the checks and balance that is missing in America because we know the House members not nearly enough of ’em will do it. We know too many senators won’t do it. The cabinet has never done it. And we are the last opportunity to provide the check and balance because we are becoming perilously close to the day when our courts won’t do it either. We, ladies and gentlemen, being referred to as the 'enemy the American people' offends me because we are the sons and daughters of truck drivers and teachers. Cab drivers and cooks. We are the sons and daughters of those who work on our farms and in our factories.”
