CNN Admits Trump ‘Won The Economic Message Battle’

It’s a cold day in hell when leftist CNN concedes that President Donald Trump actually “won” anything.

But a recent CNN story was literally headlined, “How Trump won the economic message battle.” CNN Politics senior writer Harry Enten wrote: “Although judging a president's economic performance can be difficult because there's only so much he can control, Americans at large, and voters specifically, seemed to agree with Trump.”

More shockingly, Enten admitted that “If the economy were the only thing that mattered, [Trump] probably would have won reelection.” Wow, seems like that’s why the liberal media-at-large were so intent on “hiding Trump’s successes” on the economy to preempt his reelection bid.

A recent MRC survey of 1,750 voters for former Vice President Joe Biden in seven swing states found that the liberal media prevented many of them “from learning about record-breaking positive economic news in the months leading up to the election.”

Specifically, “The five pre-election jobs reports from June 5 to October 2 showed a record 11,161,000 jobs were created in the extraordinary snapback from the pandemic recession.”  Here’s the kicker: “[A] large number of Biden voters (39.4%) said they didn’t know about this achievement. If they had, 5.4% said they would have changed their vote; this would have swung Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin to Trump, who would have won with 295 electoral votes.”

CNN’s latest admission puts the media blackout on Trump’s economic successes in a pretty damning light.

Enten provided more context on the admission:

Consider the latest poll from Quinnipiac University. When voters were asked whether Trump's policies helped, hurt or made no difference to the state of the economy, 50% said they helped. That's the strongest reading Trump got during his entire presidency from Quinnipiac. Only 30% said his policies hurt.

And this “strongest reading” for Trump occurred even after the pandemic and state-imposed shutdowns caused millions of Americans to suffer. CNN noted that “[a] majority of voters (52%) said they approved of Trump's economic performance.” The Quinnipiac results also revealed a weak area for Biden. According to Enten, “Voters don't expect that type of record from Trump's successor, President-elect Joe Biden. Just 39% say Biden's economic policies will help the country, while 38% say they'll hurt.”

Biden’s economic policy numbers are also pretty embarrassing for CNN. Recently, the outlet tried to do a bit of PR for Biden after the election. The network had tried to push the phony idea that Biden wouldn’t raise taxes.

Also shocking is CNN’s note on how voters viewed Trump’s economic policies in comparison to his predecessor Barack Obama’s economic policies. CNN admitted that Trump beat Obama on this front too:

Indeed, on the economy, Trump seems to have bested not just his successor but his predecessor, Barack Obama. When asked by Quinnipiac in November 2016, 44% of voters said that Obama's policies helped the economy compared to 38% who said that they hurt them. Going back even further, it's pretty clear that Trump's record is viewed as one of the better ones for a first term over the last 45 years.
