ABC’s Nightline on Friday donated over seven minutes of air time to hype the new season of The Handmaid’s Tale as a Taliban-esque dystopian fantasy set “against the backdrop of Donald Trump’s America.” Reporter David Wright breathlessly explained how the show as “The new American regime is a theocracy that oppresses women in particular. They're not allowed to read or write or think for themselves.”
The Sunday morning after the so-called March for Our Lives rally where hundreds of thousands of anti-gun kids parroted liberal chants and slogans, the liberal network news outlets of ABC and NBC were eager to throw heaps of praise on them. It was the first story that they got to that morning and each one of them was focused on where the “movement” was going and what change they could possibly bring on the issue.
Nightline correspondent David Wright on Thursday night desperately tried to get actress and singer Dolly Parton to label Donald Trump as the face of 21st century sexism. Talking to the entertainer about her role in the iconic film 9 to 5, Wright played a clip of Jane Fonda deriding her character’s boss as a “sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot.”
On Saturday, the White House officially allowed the rebuttal memo drafted by House Democrats on the Intelligence Committee to be released. The memo was meant to rebuke the one released by their Republican counterparts a few weeks ago, but the FBI requested that certain information be redacted because it exposed sources and methods. In response to the release, ABC’s Good Morning America touted the memo on Sunday but claimed the White House was responsible for the redactions and suggested they were hiding something.
The knives came out on ABC during their Sunday morning programming as they made President Trump and the GOP the target of their hyperbolic smear campaign following the release of the House Intelligence Committee memo detailing alleged misconduct by the FBI and Justice Department. And at one point during This Week, host George Stephanopoulos and Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent Martha Raddatz suggested that the “discord” and “mistrust” sowed by Republicans was ultimately helping Russian President Vladimir Putin.
After Democrats shut down the government on Friday over their demand to protect illegal immigrants from deportation, all three broadcast networks spent the weekend reaching back to 2013 to accuse Donald Trump of changing his mind on the legislative tactic. At the same time, NBC, ABC and CBS completely ignored the stunning hypocrisy of Democratic leader Chuck Schumer.
ABC kicked off Sunday’s Good Morning America with five minutes dedicated to the government shutdown. And despite the fact that Democrats were bragging that they had the votes to do it, the liberal network trashed Republicans and touted how President Trump would take all the blame.
Since Friday, when CNN first reported that Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team had secured an indictment, the liberal media had been running rampant with speculation about who it was for and how it would topple President Trump. And during ABC’s Sunday Good Morning America, they appeared giddy that the indictment could go all the way up. Yet, on NBC’s Sunday Today, they noted how the indictment could be for something “unrelated” to the Russia investigation.
On Friday night and Saturday morning, ABC and NBC turned to supposedly ordinary Americans to attack President Trump’s decision to end the unlawful ObamaCare subsidies. Turns out, those so-called individuals were anything but ordinary and instead covert liberal activists who agreed with the liberal media’s health care position.
Over the weekend, instead of reporting on the Puerto Rico relief efforts and how they were crippled by circumstance, the liberal media chose to champion the anti-Trump criticism from Democratic San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz. After President Trump pushed back against the criticism, the media sensed blood in the water and went all in. On Sunday’s Good Morning America, ABC Correspondent David Wright touted public outrage at the President, including one actor claiming Trump was going to Hell.
For a media wallowing in the toxic political culture, one would think Friday’s bill signing of a massive overhaul at the scandal-ridden Department of Veterans Affairs (V.A.) would provide a chance to show that Washington has accomplished something. Alas, it was not to be as ABC and NBC refused to directly cover this bipartisan achievement for the Trump administration.
On Friday, ABC’s Good Morning America could not contain its disgust over the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals upholding a Mississippi religious freedom law that protects business owners with religious objections from being forced to participate in gay weddings, among other provisions.
