Since Tuesday’s ouster of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, journalists have slammed House Republicans as radicals and extremists. If it sounds familiar, it’s because that’s exactly what viewers heard after Republican Speaker John Boehner stepped down eight years ago.

After spending the past year cheering on Congressional Democrats in their seemingly never ending quest to investigate former President Donald Trump and his actions on and leading up to the January 6 riots, including the appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate and presumably prosecute Trump, suddenly investigations and oversight are bad since it’s the GOP’s turn to conduct them. 

CNN anchor Jim Acosta hasn’t checked his pompous attitude at the door since leaving his role as White House correspondent. This morning on New Day, Acosta came on seemingly for the sole purpose of trashing Trump supporters, the Republican party and CNN’s competitor Fox News as brainless extremists. 

New York Times reporter Julie Hirschfeld Davis delivered a not-particularly friendly farewell to House Speaker and former vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan of Wisconsin on Thursday. The story is notable for ideological labeling that’s severely slanted even for a Times story, with the prefix “ultra” dropped on Republicans no less than three times in this one report.

Proving he really has nothing nice to say about anyone on the right, Late Show host Stephen Colbert attacked Speaker of the House Paul Ryan after discovering Ryan was part Jewish on the PBS show, “Finding Your Roots.” Colbert attacked Ryan in a gross and petty segment on August 1 show, crassly offering to circumcise the Republican on-air.
