Zohran Mamdani surged to an easy victory as the “democratic socialist” mayor of New York City, complete with media enthusiasm that carried echoes of silly Obama love songs. The badly named “mainstream media” earnestly promoted the most extreme candidate.

During Wednesday’s jubilations for Democratic victories across the board the night prior, MSNBC’s Katy Tur claimed New York City’s wealthiest won’t leave because of the immense amount of culture on offer. Her guests also supported the idea that electing Zohran Mamdani (D) won’t scare off the one percent and subsequently bankrupt the city.

While all the late night hosts rejoiced on their Wednesday shows over Democrats’ Tuesday election victories, the eponymous hosts of ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, CBS’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers were especially eager to promote socialist Zohran Mamdani’s New York City mayoral victory.

During post-election coverage on Tuesday night, CNN contributors Van Jones and Scott Jennings didn’t seem particularly happy with mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani’s (D) angry victory speech. On Election Day, MSNBC’s Morning Joe spent over 17 minutes of airtime with the Democratic Nominee for New York City mayor, Zohran Mamdani, and even gave him 30 uninterrupted seconds towards the end to make his case to voters.
