Holder's DOJ Sets Up Email Account For Zimmerman Tips

July 17th, 2013 6:04 PM

In a "How can he possibly top this?" move, Eric Holder's Justice Department "is trolling for email tips on the former neighborhood watch volunteer (George Zimmerman) as it weighs a possible federal civil rights case against him."

What other establishment press outlets besides Fox News will cover this? And if they do, which of them (if any) will note the mountain of exculpatory evidence about Zimmerman? First, excerpts from Fox's report by Jake Gibson, followed by the accumulated evidence that Zimmerman more than likely hasn't a racist bone in his body (HT to a frequent tipster, who saw coverage of this on a Fox show earlier today; bolds are mine throughout this post):

DOJ trolling for email tips in Zimmerman probe

More than a year after an FBI report indicated there was no evidence of racial bias in George Zimmerman's history, the Justice Department is trolling for email tips on the former neighborhood watch volunteer as it weighs a possible federal civil rights case against him.

Amid pressure from the NAACP and several Democratic lawmakers to pursue Zimmerman, the department has set up a public email address asking for any tips or information regarding the case. The move appears to mark an expansion of the probe, after Attorney General Eric Holder said in an address Tuesday to the NAACP that his department would "consider all available information" before deciding whether to move forward.

The department also held a conference call with civil rights leaders on Monday.

The conference call included DOJ officials, along with representatives from the FBI and federal prosecutors. They spoke to civil rights leaders from Sanford, Fla., as well as others from around the country.

The call was convened by Tom Perez, assistant attorney general for the Civil Rights Division.

A Justice official told Fox News that both the conference call and the email address asking for tips and information are fairly standard procedure when dealing with a high-profile investigation such as this one. The department has used such tip lines in the past, including in a probe last year of the Albuquerque, N.M., police department.

Asking for tips in an investigation may be common practice, but I challenge anyone to name another instance where the U.S. Department of Justice has set up a tip email address for the sole purpose of finding a way to prosecute someone who has just been acquitted -- especially after an FBI investigation found nothing.

I have a tip for Holder and DOJ -- Read this (paragraph breaks added by me):

... (The Zimmerman-as racist charge) is a real head-scratcher if you know even a teeny-tiny bit about George Zimmerman.

Zimmerman’s high school prom date- black.

Zimmerman’s business partner- black.

Zimmerman’s wife’s best friend- black.

Kids Zimmerman tutors after school for free- black.

Neighbor Zimmerman invited to stay at his house as long as she needed after being rattled by a break in to her house, black.

Homeless man killed that Zimmerman fought for justice for- black.

Fifty-one percent of the neighborhood where Zimmerman rents a house- black/brown.

Seriously, if you have spouted this nonsense, shame on you.

I have a few tips for DOJ and Holder.

Have the courage to provide him and his death threat-receiving family federal protection as long as the "Enormous amount of death threats" continues.

Use your privileged pulpit to specifically demand that those who intend to do Zimmerman harm leave him alone.

Otherwise, leave Zimmerman alone -- and shut down your damned Big Brother tip email address.

Is there any truth to the rumor the DOJ's tip email addy is railroadzimmerman@justice.gov?
