At the top of Wednesday’s NBC Today, co-host Matt Lauer teased an “exciting” announcement about the morning show preparing to broadcast from a new location far from its New York studio. All three network morning shows on Wednesday were in awe of President Obama tearing up during his White House gun control address on Tuesday. ABC and NBC, Tuesday, offered one-sided spin on Barack Obama’s executive actions on gun control. Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts insisted that the President is enacting these restrictions without the “help” of Congress. Only CBS This Morning featured objections from Republican presidential candidates. 

In a stunning contrast displayed in back-to-back reports on Tuesday’s Today show, NBC correspondents portrayed chaos in the Republican presidential race while hailing Hillary Clinton as having all but won the White House.  

The network morning shows on Monday hyped Hillary Clinton’s dismissal of Donald Trump’s attacks, instead promoting the “popular” Bill Clinton. On Good Morning America, Cecilia Vega enthused, “Bill Clinton has enormously high popularity numbers. But even with all of these attacks coming from Trump, her campaign and Hillary Clinton herself calls him their secret weapon.” 

On Monday, all three network morning shows touted Barack Obama planning to take unilateral executive action to restrict gun rights and worried that Republicans were already strong critics of the presidential power grab.  

Closing out 2015 on the Thursday morning newscasts, NBC’s Today churned one of its most fawning pieces on President Obama as NBC News correspondent Ron Allen reviewed Obama’s top photos by White House photographer Pete Souza while hushed, soft piano music played in the background. 

With New Year’s Eve upon us, NBC’s Today dedicated a segment in its 9:00 a.m. hour on Thursday to looking back at the year in news, politics, and entertainment.
