In a bizarre story for NBC’s Today on Friday, correspondent Peter Alexander preemptively attacked President Trump for possibly blocking the release of classified government files related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, even though the reporter acknowledged that  “no decision’s been made” by the administration regarding the obscure bureaucratic matter.  

Despite initially claiming she wanted to avoid politics on her new NBC daytime show, on Friday, during a fawning interview with the female cast members of Saturday Night Live, host Megyn Kelly fondly reminisced over comedian Kate McKinnon’s sorrowful opening of SNL after Hillary Clinton’s defeat in the 2016 election.

With the return of the NBC sitcom Will & Grace set to take place on Thursday at 9 p.m., the show’s cast and its producers -- stars Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Sean Hayes and Megan Mullally and creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick -- have made appearances on several television talk shows to promote the program’s revival.

All three networks on Thursday hailed the life of “American icon” Hugh Hefner, honoring the “beautiful ending” for the pornographer. CBS also made sure to tout the “progressive politics” of the magazine and support for abortion. On Thursday, while ABC’s Good Morning America and CBS This Morning spent several minutes covering the new Republican tax plan and talked to top Trump administration officials about the policy, NBC’s Today couldn’t even bother to devote a single full report to the topic. Instead, the morning show devoted three times more coverage to the renewal of NBC sitcom Will & Grace.

On Monday’s NBC Today, co-host Matt Lauer worried that President Trump’s new travel restrictions against North Korea “are only serving to further escalate tensions between the U.S. and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.” Correspondent Bill Neely warned: “No letup in the war of words....A show of force, more goading by the President, and a travel ban. It is crisis deepening by the day.”

While NBC’s Today hailed NFL Quarterback Colin Kaepernick as a hero last year over his refusal to stand during the National Anthem, on Monday, the morning show was aghast at President Trump’s criticism of such protests. The broadcast hyped a “firestorm of resistance” against Trump across the NFL on Sunday.
