On Tuesday, ABC’s White House correspondent Jon Karl attempted to scold President Trump for having “lashed out” at Democrats who were politicizing coronavirus. Trump shut down the line of questioning by pointing out he has to “respond” since liberal politicians “have the media on their side.”

During Tuesday’s White House press briefing from the Coronavirus Task Force, a reporter fretted that President Trump using the phrase “Chinese virus” in a tweet was creating a “stigma” about the disease. In response, the President reminded the media that China chose to spread lies and conspiracy theories in an effort to cover-up the extent of the virus in the early days.

During an interview with Mike Pence on Thursday, Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie repeatedly demanded that the Vice President predict that coronavirus would infect “millions” of Americans. Ironically, she also dismissed President Trump’s criticism of “media hype” regarding the disease.

School shootings were one theme of the latest episode of NBC’s New Amsterdam, but with a bit of a twist. Instead of a plotline about a school shooting, it revolved around students traumatized by an active shooter drill at their school. One of the students, Danica, gets referred to New Amsterdam shrink Dr. Iggy Frome. She is so traumatized she never wants to return to the school.

On Friday morning, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported the economy gained 273,000 jobs in February, well above economist predictions, and the unemployment rate fell from 3.6 percent to 3.5 percent. Wage growth ticked up slightly to 3 percent for the year. But Friday night's newscasts either skipped this news (NBC) or downplayed it as stocks continued to decline (ABC, CBS, PBS). 

ABC and NBC on Friday spun the cringe-inducing, awkward new comments by Bill Clinton, in which the former President blamed his White House affair with Monica Lewinsky as “anxiety” management. The Today show and Good Morning America hailed a Hulu documentary as “remarkable” and a look at the “painful” time (for the Clintons).
