If one day of stupid wasn’t enough, MSNBC’s Hardball host Chris Matthews reiterated his concerns on Thursday night that President-elect Donald Trump has undermined the credibility of the news media to the point that he’s fearful people won’t believe movie times printed in newspapers.

Ever since Greta Van Susteren resigned from her weeknight On the Record program for the Fox News Channel on September 6, a great deal of speculation has centered on where the former criminal defense and civil trial lawyer would turn up next, with many pundits predicting that she would join the team on MSNBC.

Anchoring MSNBC’s 1 p.m. ET hour on Thursday, host Craig Melvin acknowledged that had the races been reversed in the brutal Chicago kidnapping and assault broadcast on Facebook Live, the media coverage would be very different. Talking to correspondent Ron Mott, he admitted: “I think that if the races were swapped we would certainly be making probably a bigger issue of this.”

On Tuesday night’s Hardball, MSNBC host Chris Matthews served up his first head-scratching Notable Quotable for 2017 as he likened Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to someone who “sat around like a troll under the bridge, ready to bite the leg of Obama for four or eight years.”

Appearing on MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell Reports on Tuesday, NBC senior political editor Mark Murray lectured Republicans on any attempt to repeal ObamaCare, warning the GOP that if they “break” the health care system, then they “own it.”

The media remain steadfast in their opposition to now-President-elect Donald Trump.  In their attempts to deny him first the office and now legitimacy therein, they have come up with all sorts of shorthand descriptives that are either vague or outright disingenuous. One of the most annoying of these - is “Donald Trump is anti-(free) trade.”

The news media reward Donald Trump with a “honeymoon” as unfriendly as their campaign coverage, with journalists blasting the President-elect as a “racist,” “authoritarian” and a “demagogue,” while some cast his election as “tainted” and potentially “illegitimate” because of Russia’s hacking.
