On Wednesday’s Hardball, MSNBC contributor and PBS NewsHour correspondent Yamiche Alcindor suggested that the President’s reaction to the Mueller report is a sign of how authoritarian regimes come to power and questioned the intelligence of anyone who watched (or, by extension, reads this) that a reelected President Trump in 2020 would cast doubt on whether Americans understand the Constitution.

Having decided that a new life goal is to lobby for the impeachment of President Trump, MSNBC’s Hardball host Chris Matthews also made clear over the last week that another objective is to make clear to guests and viewers that Trump’s an illegitimate President because he “won a fluke election” with “Russian help” and that Democrats need “a cheering section.”

Four White House correspondents flew out to Las Vegas for this past week’s 2019 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show and, as is usually the case with such public events, journalists offer revealing takes that are both good and bad. Most notably, they condemned the President’s rhetoric toward the media, suggesting it places their lives in “serious danger.”

The 2019 National Association of Broadcasting convention wrapped on Thursday and, back on Monday, NAB CEO (and former Republican Senator) Gordon Smith waxed poetic love notes to four prominent White House correspondents on-stage as “heroes and icons” to “this younger generation” as the supposedly dastardly Trump administration has made journalism cool again.

Tuesday’s Hardball saw an opening panel led by host Chris Matthews that showed the desperation of the liberal media following Attorney General Bill Barr’s Sunday letter on the main conclusions of the Mueller report. In roughly 15 minutes, they peddling conspiracy theories that this rollout was conceived of sometime ago, that Barr was picked solely to save Trump, and that America’s now a “crazy country” because it elected Trump.

In 2018, Stacey Abrams' national claim to fame was being a member of the Georgia House of Representatives that lost the the state's gubernatorial election and refused to accept the legitimacy of the outcome, all of which earned her the chance to deliver the Democratic response to the State of the Union in 2019. On Tuesday, her political resume resulted in MSNBC's Morning Joe heaping copious amounts of praise on Abrams as she contemplates a 2020 presidential run.

One of the favorite pastimes of news media since the election of Donald Trump has been to roll out the fact checkers every time he gives a public statement or speech on anything that might be of relevance.  This newfound appreciation for incessant fact checking only seems to go one way-- a notion that was on full on full display during MSNBC's Morning Joe on Wednesday as the hosts reacted to Tuesday night's State of the Union Address.

At midnight Eastern Wednesday, MSNBC followed usual form for big news nights such as debates, election nights, and presidential speeches in somehow allowing Chris Matthews to host a late-night edition of Hardball to recap President Trump's State of the Union. Inside the blog, there are slides containing some of the silliest series of hot takes from that hour, presented in chronological order.

MSNBC's Morning Joe has spent the better part of the last few weeks lamenting the government shutdown, framing the the budget impass as a 35-day exercise in futility based around a concocted crises.  On Monday, the morning show cheered the end of the "petty" stalemate while also applauding House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for having "schooled" the President by still refusing to schedule the State of the Union address.

In another iteration of the liberal media’s suggestion that support for the border wall was driven primarily by racism, longtime NBC newsman Tom Brokaw appeared on Sunday’s Meet the Press and claimed Republicans have told him they’re not enthusiastic about the idea of having “brown grandbabies”.

Seeing as how he had been the bane of the liberal media’s existence for the last 24 hours plus as he’s supposedly the real president, conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh was in an ebullient mood for his Friday show. He said that he was supposedly “the new villain in Washington D.C.” ahead of a possible government shutdown that was portrayed as if the world was “end[ing] even before climate change kills us all.”

MSNBC’s Hardball host Chris Matthews was in a gleeful mood on Tuesday as a result of the intense political theater that broke out hours earlier in the Oval Office between the House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, the President, and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, hailing Democrats for “fighting now” against Trump “after two years of holding back.” Also within Tuesday’s show, he blasted Trump as having the body language of a French mime with a sexism problem and compared him to Igor from Young Frankenstein.
