Between Sunday night and Monday, the liberal media have been up in arms over a parody video using a scene from the movie Kingsman: The Secret Service to depict a fake President Trump committing violence against members of the news media and other opponents and while it's been thoroughly condemned, many in the liberal press showed little to no concern for parodies or threats of violence against the President himself.
For a network that started Sunday with Jane Pauley’s pillow-fluffing interview of Hillary and Chelsea Clinton then Margaret Brennan blasting Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), CBS ended Sunday with a 60 Minutes piece by Scott Pelley that worshipped at the feet of the pro-impeachment crowd. While Pelley allowed his liberal guests to speak ad nauseam, he was abrasive and frequently interrupted and bashed to the President and the only person he interviewed against impeachment, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
As part of CBS kissing up to CBS, Late Show host Stephen Colbert brought on 60 Minutes correspondent (and former Evening News anchor) Scott Pelley to promote his new book Truth Worth Telling. No one was going to bring up Dan Rather, not to mention Pelley's dismissed 60 Minutes colleagues Charlie Rose and Jeff Fager, let alone the sexual harasser at the top, Les Moonves. No, Pelley came on to lecture about how President Trump and foreign governments are poisoning the information well. It sounded like...collusion.
According to published reports, new CBS News President Susan Zirinsky is considering a shake up at the CBS Evening News barely 15 months after the network installed Jeff Glor as anchor. If true, it would mark the departure of the least anti-Trump of the Big Three anchormen, just as the 2020 campaign is heating up. Compared to his predecessor Scott Pelley’s belligerent Trump bashing, Glor has struck a more neutral tone in its political coverage and avoided the hyperbolic coverage of his competitors.
CBS’s 60 Minutes devoted 28.5 minutes on Sunday night to former acting FBI director Andrew McCabe, who was fired from the Justice Department for lying under oath to investigators about leaking to the newspapers. McCabe has penned the latest hot book for Trump-haters, called The Threat, and this interview looked like a long infomercial for St. Martin’s Press.
Did CBS’s Scott Pelley underline that McCabe was fired for lying? Pelley began with this illogical sentence in his introduction: “McCabe is a lifelong Republican who had a sterling 21-year career in the FBI.”
There’s an old saying that goes: “If the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.” That was apparently what Democrat Gov. Jay Inslee of Washington was thinking as a guest on Thursday's MTP Daily on MSNBC. Inslee has been in the news since last Friday for declaring an emergency over an outbreak of measles in the Evergreen State, and he attempted to use the same tactic against Howard Schultz, the former Starbucks CEO who has stated that he might join the 2020 presidential contest as an independent.
The news that Howard Schultz, the former CEO of Starbucks, is strongly looking at a third party bid for the White House has clearly rattled members of the media. Given that Schultz holds liberal views on abortion, exiting the Paris Climate Agreement, illegal immigration, and other issues, it’s clear that CBS worries his candidacy will split the Democratic vote and reelect Donald Trump.
While the liberal media have been obsessed with blaming Donald Trump’s rhetoric for provoking the man who sent letter bombs to Democrats and CNN last week, they barely mentioned that the man who shot at Republicans on a baseball in 2017 was motivated by anti-GOP hatred.
After almost a month of attempts to impugn Brett Kavanaugh with flimsy, uncorroborated, 11th hour allegations, the liberal media saw their attempts come up empty on Saturday with Kavanaugh’s official confirmation to the Supreme Court. But left behind in their wake was one dumpster fire after another, ranging from fake news to bias that radicalized even the most hardened Never Trumpers to rally behind the Judge.
On Sunday’s 60 Minutes, correspondent Scott Pelley conducted a hostile interrogation of Republican Senator Susan Collins, aghast at her decision to support the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. At the same time, he treated Democratic Senator Heidi Heitkamp as a “rare” hero for voting against Kavanaugh.
During a fawning interview with Democratic Senator Chris Coons and Republican Senator Jeff Flake on Sunday’s 60 Minutes, CBS correspondent Scott Pelley urged them to denounce Brett Kavanaugh for defending himself against partisan liberal attacks during Thursday’s contentious Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.
During the 18 months of the Trump presidency, immigration has received more airtime on the three broadcast evening news shows than any other policy topic. The networks’ coverage has been relentlessly hostile to the administration (92% negative, just 8% positive), largely because these newscasts have framed nearly all of their coverage around the plight of those adversely affected by the administration’s enforcement agenda, and have virtually ignored law enforcement or anyone harmed by illegal immigration.
