As NBC wrapped up its special coverage of the Senate coronavirus hearing late Tuesday morning, journalists repeatedly expressed their relief that the proceeding on Capitol Hill was supposedly free of the “politicking” and “chaos” they claimed plagued White House briefings on the pandemic.

On Friday, audio of former President Barack Obama blasting the Trump administration’s coronavirus response during a phone call trying to drum up support for the Biden campaign was leaked to Yahoo News. Over the weekend and through Monday morning, the three broadcast networks repeatedly hyped the nasty, partisan attack without one word of criticism for Obama’s unseemly rhetoric.

In 2020 the case against Michael Flynn began to collapse, as it became clearer that there was an attempt to entrap Flynn. These new developments unfurled from January through May, but the Big Three (ABC, CBS, NBC) evening news programs refused to report them. So anyone who relied on them for their news was probably shocked when on May 7 the case was suddenly dropped. 

Is it really too much to ask that the media report a quote, accurately? Apparently it is for NBC.
