The fate of the Affordable Care Act is up in the air at the moment. After the repeal of the individual mandate, it seems that a court battle will make its way to the Supreme Court. This gave a chance for the liberal media to fearmonger about the fall of President Obama’s signature piece of legislation.
Fox Business anchor Dagen McDowell happily announced that the U.S. entered a record-setting 10 years of economic expansion July 1. “You have more than 70 percent of people think the economy is good if not great,” she declared. She also mentioned how 70 percent of Americans “like their private health insurance from their employer,” and wondered what “advice” Democrats would use to campaign against the strong economy. “How do you push back on that, given the fact that the economy, as of today, this is the longest economic expansion in history?” she asked.
Washington Post economic editorial writer Charles Lane called out proponents of socialism citing Nordic countries as a “model” for the kind of socialism they want to see replicated by America. Because, while they are “success stories,” they aren’t really the socialist utopias claimed by liberal presidential candidates like Sen. Bernie Sanders, (I-VT). Democratic socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, (D-NY), has also claimed her policies “resemble” these countries.
Presidential contenders are in a battle to out give one another. Senator Elizabeth Warren proposes a whopping $50,000 per student college loan forgiveness. Senator Bernie Sanders proposes free health care for all Americans plus illegal aliens. Most Democratic presidential candidates promise free stuff that includes free college, universal income, "Medicare for All" and debt forgiveness.
The Simpsons went after President Donald Trump and pushed hard for progressive policy in season 30 episode 21 titled “D’oh Canada” which aired on Sunday night.
As if it somehow sank the conservative agenda or upended a Fox News narrative, the ABC and CBS Tuesday evening news programs hailed the heavily Democratic Fox News town hall audience that cheered for Bernie Sander’s Medicare for All healthcare plan.
Already a biased journalist on the environment based on his December 30 Meet the Press stunt, MTP Daily host Chuck Todd brought on socialist Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) for Thursday’s show to discuss how she views the 2020 field, the Green New Deal, and socialism. Not surprisingly, he operated on her turf and didn’t pressure her on any of the outlandish, Soviet-style proposals outlined hours earlier in the Green New Deal.
On Monday's New Day show, as Washington Democratic Governor and possible presidential candidate Jay Inslee appeared as a guest, fill-in co-host Poppy Harlow fretted over the public's lack of interest in the issue of climate change as she mostly gave him a friendly forum to promote his views without pressing back on him from the right.
After Kamala Harris called for the abolition of the private health insurance market on CNN, Monday, ABC and NBC’s morning shows on Tuesday skipped the 2020 Democratic presidential candidate telling Jake Tapper: “Let’s eliminate all of that. Let’s move on.” Private insurance currently covers 177 million people, so you think this might be controversial. However, only CBS This Morning bothered to mention it and only in a breezy, unconcerned way. In the 8am hour, co-host John Dickerson explained, “Kamala Harris says all Americans should have Medicare and it's time to move on from private insurance.”
When you receive your paycheck and look at the withholding for federal, state and sometimes city taxes, along with Social Security and Medicare, you probably don't think you're underpaying governments and want them to take more. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio believes that if you have played by what used to be called “the rules” and are making a decent living, taking care of yourself and your family and not relying on government, your taxes should be increased.
NBC anchor Willie Geist and Meet the Press moderator Chuck Todd were miffed during Sunday Today following a recent ruling out of a federal court in Texas declaring the so-called Affordable Care Act (a.k.a ObamaCare) was unconstitutional since the “tax” penalty was a zero dollars. The liberal duo was not having any of it.
Comedian Amy Schumer has been feeling ill lately, apparently from a wicked combination of Trump Derangement Syndrome and the physical strain of being pregnant. On Tuesday, the I Feel Pretty actress posted an Instagram video of her vomiting before a big show, and despite how tasteless that was, she topped it off by sending a hateful message to “crackhead” Mississippi Republican Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith and her “Confederate ass campaign.”
